About this deal

Fractal Design’s Pop XL Silent isn’t nearly silent, but its noise levels undercut most non-quieted rivals. Whichever path you choose, Pop Series will provide you with a solid build, a straight-forward layout, and will serve as a stylish addition to your desk space.

This system allows us to produce a substantial amount of heat and effectively test the Fractal Design Pop Air‘s cooling capabilities. That said, don’t expect low temperatures for your CPU in this case – we hit 85 degrees celsius during testing. Pop Air RGB, is an old-school big tower with a nice bit of color in its back pocket, though it was a merely average performer on our thermal and acoustic tests. Pop XL Silent surprises us by including four fans, support for triple-fan front and dual-fan top radiators, noise damping, and a single tempered glass panel (which does a great job of reflecting noise). We’re very happy to see the Pop Air RGB reach mid-pack voltage-regulator temperatures, but realize that the only case to hit significantly worse temperatures was designed to prevent fans from being installed directly above the voltage regulator. As the name implies, this is a silent chassis that feels a bit old-fashioned – it also comes with two 5. Your PC will stay cool with Fractal's Pop case designs, as it features a unique hexagonally patterned mesh front, which creates a striking visual effect. Fractal Design says that the mesh is the filter, which means that users will more easily be able to see when their filters need to be cleaned.

The next time we visit CES or Computex we fully intend to meet up with Fractal Design and interrogate them about sales of the various coloured options of the new Pop cases. Designed in a stunning Black finish and clear tinted tempered glass side panel, means you can easily look inside. Some of the data that are collected include the number of visitors, their source, and the pages they visit anonymously. We'll map the results against some recently tested large ATX cases, some of which have at least a modicum of EATX-board support. As for the extra space up top, the 70mm gap above the motherboard easily allows for an extra-thick 38mm radiator and a pair of 25mm fans while leaving a bit of clearance. An oddity appears in our GPU temperature testing as the Pop XL Silent slowly overtakes the Pop Air RGB in GPU cooling. While they were more popular in the past, there aren’t many silent cases on the market–particularly recent ones designed for modern hardware.

Firstly, none of us work for PCS, it's not the type of forum to suggest taking your money elsewhere. I know this case was designed to be as silent as possible, but I would’ve liked to see more airflow. The fans of our AIO CPU cooler do a great job of cooling our motherboard’s CPU voltage regulators, and the Pop XL Silent’s bump up to fourth place probably comes courtesy of its extra intake fans. com is a leading authority on technology, delivering lab-based, independent reviews of the latest products and services. One of the nicer things that we can say about the CPU temperatures we measured (after mounting our platform into the Pop Air RGB) is that they’re only a few degrees worse than average. All outputs are designed only to enable daisy-chaining of these devices, with the original connection leading to a motherboard header. We are confident that Fractal Design is directly targeting Phanteks Eclipse with the Pop series and we are very keen to see how this welcome competition helps the enthusiast that is working on a tight budget. SilverStone’s similarly quieted Seta Q1 sits opposite the Pop XL Silent in today’s charts, with the four quietest of recently reviewed “non-silent” cases separating them at least in the legend. In addition to fan cables, the Pop Air RGB includes a SATA-style power input, and header cables for a motherboard power button, HD Audio, and first-gen USB 3.
