The main compartment has designated laptop and tablet sleeves and a scratch-free stash pocket to protect eyewear. If you prefer the free-form organization of a duffel, check out the Eagle Creek Cargo Hauler which is so light and compressible that it stuffs into its own side pocket. The only issue I’ve experienced is that the hip belt is a little above my hip bone, though it’s not as obvious as with other brands I’ve tried. A well-ventilated mesh backsystem keeps you cooler when transferring your bag between hotels or navigating an airport, whilst carry handles offer a different way to manoeuvre the bag when necessary.

There’s nothing elasticated on the front of the daypack to quickly stuff in a jumper or rain jacket. The Farpoint 55 is high-quality, comfortable, and practical for long-term travelers and backpackers. I discovered that the Osprey Farpoint’s storied reputation as one of the best backpacks for travel is very valid, but it still might not be the best fit for every traveler. Inside the main cargo bag is a mesh pocket ideal to separate dirty clothes and shoes and internal compression strapsfully maximise the capacity whilst securing your gear. I do miss the front loading systems of my previous packs but I had zip fail on me with a front loader, been top-load draw string ever since.Although I might check-in the bag, did you really have no issue when flying with Wizz-air and using it as a cabin bag/putting into the over-head compartment? I keep them together, however, and have another small backpack for my carry-on that holds my electronics and various stuff I want on the plane. The Farpoint 55 includes a removable 15 litre daypack and then a 40 litre main pack giving lots of options for varying trips. On my Old Farpoint 40, I bought an Osprey day series cinch bag and with the daisy chain I can attach it to either bag very well and better and easier than the regular daypack.

You can unravel a flap at the bottom of the pack with a zipper closure to encase the shoulder straps and hip belt, which is handy if you check the bag as it ensures that nothing happens to the straps in transit.
