Now, in this covenant of grace, we must first of all observe the high contracting parties between whom it was made.

In this sense, Pedersen’s book is not only an excellent study on the eternal covenant, but a fantastic example of how to properly read Schleiermacher.Because Jesus Christ is “the way, the truth, and the life,” it follows that “no man cometh unto the Father, but by [Him]” ( John 14:6). It runs thus: "This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. One of my favorite verses doesn’t contain the words, everlasting covenant, but it does speak to that idea. In the eternal covenant, God the Father and Jesus the Son made an agreement with regard to the elect. We should find that in due time in this life they would be brought to repentance, would be washed in the Saviour's blood, and would be saved.
