About this deal

Maybe it covers my undereye circles like none other, maybe it’s a lipstick that’s longer lasting like all the rest, or maybe it will make my complexion look like a newborn baby’s butt. Purveyors of exquisite formulations that deliver realistic radiance, this phenomenal range was allowing the world to look ‘lit from within’ before dewy was even a thing and has scored an abundance of (well-deserved) industry accolades – not to mention a loooong list of glowing reviews from our discerning Cult Community. It’s a solid white stuff that’s very alkaline and used in small amounts to adjust the pH of the product and make it just right.

However if you have really good skin already and don’t care too much for a primer, and prefer a golden base then this is for you. Those living in South Africa, know about our current heat wave situation so I assumed, my make up was going to melt.

But more than anything, I loved how it also helped keep my face on for hours, despite all that glow. I used it before I started using Becca and although its a bit of a faff to put on (have to put foundation/bb cream on quickly before the flash balm dries if not it pills dreadfully) it always worked brilliantly. It goes on easily, and becomes slightly tacky before drying down to a velvet finish that isn’t powdery.

It can be used in many types of formulations as it has great thermal stability (can be heated up to 85°C) and works on a wide range of pH levels (ph 3-10). There is just one catch regarding glabridin and licorice: the amount of glabridin in commercial licorice extracts can vary a lot. Today, I’m sharing a post comparing my beloved Becca Backlight Priming Filter to the Physician’s Formula Spotlight Illuminating Primer, which is somewhat new to my collection. When I first saw the Backlight Filter Face Primer, I was attracted to it, but thought that it looked like a bottle of straight glitter that I would be putting on my face.Backlight Priming Filter (30ml, 15ml): Water, Ethylhexyl Palmitate, Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Tocopheryl Acetate, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Extract, Panthenol, Silica, Carbomer, Ethylhexylglycerin, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Hydroxide, Phenoxyethanol, Fragrance, Iron Oxides (CI 77491). It’s very suitable for those with dry skin, but those with an oily skin type may find there’s just too much shine for them. Blended together, they impart a one-of-a-kind, lightweight, whipped fluid that creates a smooth canvas and acts as an instant filter, while the vitamin E-enriched formula minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
