About this deal

I would say that her life was anything but ordinary, but to anyone who didn't know her secrets, it really would seem just that. Life breathes promise when you’re young and Vicky’s story starts with that promise, charting her journey into womanhood alongside her family’s troubles. Molly wormed her way into my heart as I celebrated her successes, cried with her at her heartbreak, held my breath when she was in danger, and took pleasure in her joy.

It covers the different experiences and emotions that one faces in life such as love, loss, grief, anger, joy and hope. It is by no means a suspense novel, rather a poignant story of what happened to many people during war. He said: “David came to me with the brief of placing Steven and Sara in 1950s London, stranding them in a completely alien environment with the very real possibility that they might just have to get used to living there – an ‘ordinary life’. As time passes, Molly becomes a wonderful aunt to her son, who never learns of the truth, but loves her as much as any child could love a mother. From this learning we have also produced three factsheets to help families find out what support is available to them and a Need to Know information sheet for policy makers.A suspected stroke has left her unable to speak and there is an important letter she wanted delivered before she passed away but she never finished writing it. With the reader's mind intrigued and their heart already bruised for the main character, we are transported back to London in 1943, when Molly is 18. The most recent blog I have shared on Science Crazy is this fun Catapult made from Lolly pop sticks and elastic bands!

I only knew her as an old lady and was very moved to hear at her funeral (which was streamed online) that in her younger days, she had been considered a real beauty, was a wonderful dancer and had a beautiful soprano voice. For her, the family she holds near and dear doesn't in fact know the real Molly or her many secrets. Who to trust with our stories and who cannot be trusted, a theme I am currently discussing with my daughter, who is having my first grandchild. I don’t usually read fictional WW2 stories as I love hearing about the true stories so much more but this one was so well written. But, then I guess, to Molly and millions of others during the war it probably was just An Ordinary Life. Amanda's ambition is to create stories that keep people from turning the bedside lamp off at night, great characters that ensure you take every step with them and tales that fill your head so you can't possibly read another book until the memory fades.

An Ordinary Life by Amanda Prowse is an atmospheric novel, which takes the reader from the London Blitz during the second world war to contemporary Britain. It’s a very easy read with a wonderful main character in Molly and although I guessed a lot of what happened, I found it to be a thought-provoking and interesting read. But she also suffers huge trauma and loss and bears the brunt of the decisions she must make for the rest of her life. This is a story that brings out all the emotions and one of the few books that made me shed a few tears.

Molly is a beacon of hope, she shows us that even the strongest fall but that it is possible to get back up again with the right help. I've now read around a dozen of her books and will keep reading the rest until I catch up to her current total of ~25.

When you rub a balloon against your hair or a jumper, charge transfer happens, this is when static electricity is made; when you rub a balloon against your jumper or hair, the balloon steals electrons (negatively charged particles) when this happens you leave the jumper, or your hair in a positively charged state and the balloon is negatively charged. Molly is a bright young woman, determined to help the war effort and keep her head up despite it all. A life time of reflection, some of her memories are wonderful others are incredibly sad and you have no idea how her story will end. This government film is a public record, preserved and presented by the BFI National Archive on behalf of The National Archives, home to more than 1,000 years of British history.

London: newcomers arrive daily on British shores seeking a fresh start, new opportunities, or simply the chance of a different life. Molly’s story starts off in the 1940s in London and goes on until 2019, as she lies in the hospital thinking back to her life. But her socked feet misjudged the two hundred year old staircase and she clutched her little teacup to her chest as if her life depended on it - it had been her grandmother's teacup - as if protecting it was of greater importance than any attempt to protect her aged bones.
