On entry the man greeted us (I assume the owner) and that was really nice,... he was super welcoming and chatty which was great and the cafe was really cute in decor and design - we hoped for good things!

Marble topped, iron tables are here also. Above each fireplace is a mirror. The main fireplace mirror is large and has quite an ornate wooden surround. At the top of the surround there has been a carving, only obvious by its absence. Rumour has it that during the Second World War, RAF pilots stationed at nearby RAF Leconfield, had one evening broken off the wooden eagles head at the top of the mirror, then throwing it on to the blazing fire beneath. The eagles head at that time was a bit too close to the oppositions symbolisms! In late 2017, a 22-year-old University of Washington student sued the entertainer, claiming he sexually assaulted her on his tour bus and later damaged her reputation in his public denials. A lawyer for Nelly denounced the lawsuit as being "motivated by greed" and said his client would countersue. The charges were eventually dropped.

Food and ambience

I saw that this cafe was on route to a coast path walk we were going to do and pictures looked cute so thought we would give it a go. Just out of view, immediately to our right, is the Scullery entrance, and all around are old cupboards built into the walls.

Known previously as Bangla fusion - been going there for 20 plus years and measured all other Indian restaurants against it for both service and Food so was disappointed with change of ownership !! The added addition of hard bits of what can only be described as some kind of bone in both our bacon portions was an unwelcome surprise. Cheap bacon we think.Striking while the iron was still hot, Nelly released Nellyville, his second solo record, in 2002. This floor can no longer be used due to fire regulations, which would require a suitable public fire escape. In turn, the provision of a fire escape would probably infringe on the buildings conservation 'listed' status. Pilau rice from the extensive rice dishes on offer, soft fluffy and well-seasoned. And of course, no Indian meal would be complete without some bread, this took the form of peshwari naan, soft sweet and so fresh it was delicious. Big portions left all of us bloated and very happy. Then we were treated to a complimentary drink on the house.

On the first floor, above the Beer Cellar and Kitchen is the Function Room. This room is also lit entirely by gas chandeliers and wall-lights. The only exception to this is if someone books a band or disco, when to their relief an electric supply is available for modern colored lighting (what ever that is!). When went to pay , was asked if all ok - advised re the delays and did ask if ‘older waiter’ that served us ( and banged box down ) was manager - he wasn’t !! Did assure us they would try better next time - I did point out that they had missed a bottle of wine off the bill ! Thanked us for honesty and that was that !!

Only just visible between the door and the fireplace, is an old wine cooling chest. For want of a better description, this small open room lies between the main corridor and the Scullery. Incidentally, it has been suggested that the large wooden Press, that we are facing at one end of this room, could well have been a Linen Press - as it has large wooden draws beneath, which could have been used for linen storage. Anyone any ideas? The car part entrance is just behind us, on the right-hand-side - and is accessible from 'New Walkergate'. Just behind us to the left, the car park continues and passes the secluded courtyard entrance. The car park is walled, with a pedestrian entrance (behind us) leading from the bus station.

Anyway the Press still works. On one occasion in the name of historical science, I tested the operation of the Press on the nearest item - yes, my head! I had decided to conduct this experiment following another experiment associated with evaluating the residual effect of 'Old Brewery Bitter' on the brain - on an empty stomach. Conclusion: a pre-hangover headache - especially if you're not sure which way to turn the handle to release the pressure !!! Here we are, at the far end of the pool room, standing near the patio doors - leading to the secluded courtyard. Although not an original part of the Inn, this room has been quite tastefully designed, and does not pretend to be a copy of any other part of the building. This room, with its opened apex ceiling, houses two pool tables, a jukebox and pin-ball machine. All of this is more of an annex, and shouldn't detract from the uniqueness of the rest of the Pub. This is - at the end of the day - a real and operational Pub, with real people (well maybe a few exceptions there!), and not a museum. Nelly's debut album, Country Grammar (2000), became a huge hit while featuring appearances by St. Lunatics, Lil Wayne and Cedric the Entertainer. The record went platinum nine times over in the United States and debuted at No. 3 on the Billboard 200 chart. Nellie is also used as a variation of Ellen (Greek), a variation of Helen (Greek), and a form of Nelly (English). To our immediate left is the 'Sliding Door Room' - more on that in a moment. On our right is a small wooden topped table, on a cast iron base, which has a horizontal-swivel top - which reveals a set of wooden rollers - ouch! The only thing left to say is to wish all the guys at Bangla fusion all the very best in whatever venture they embark on in the future and thank you for serving the Much Hoole community so well for the past two decades. Oh, and thank you for the Bangla Fusion Restaurant menu, NOT the takeout menu this time, the real McCoy. Staff busied themselves attending to every whim and request! I have a lot of respect for the previous incumbent of this establishment, Top’s or Lal, who ran a brilliant well-oiled dining out experience, but sadly like all good things, they come to an end and as one door closes, another door will open, and it has here in the shape of Nellie the Elephant. The hustle and bustle were amazing, chitter chatter, laughter and the clatter of plates filled the air.
