For pushing things back or trying to glaze you can use a spray bottle and mist a color- I have done that. A prevailing theme of solstice celebrations is the eternal battle between light and darkness as the wheel of the year turns. The project was made to show off the versatility while also trying to convey the loss of one’s self when they become obsessed with something.

Every year I wish someone would make it easy for me and find all the awesome art calendars happening in our community. Then when one of Jamie’s close friends, Ella, is Taken at Dancing Ledge, even Jamie’s friends Seveny, Max and George start to doubt Jamie’s innocence as she is put on the notorious ‘Gifted and Dangerous’ register at Pity Me.I dove into nailing down the overall value structure pretty quickly and began pushing some of the darkest areas as well. However, something’s not quite right…the Takings seem to be happening more and more often and even the most conscientious of students are being sacrificed. It has been referred to as a witch’s tree and anyone carrying a walking stick made from blackthorn wood was suspected of being a witch. In modern history, tradition has it that Charles II hid in an oak tree at Boscobel when pursued by the Roundheads. The Sioux, for instance, performed a ceremonial sun dance around a tree while wearing symbolic colors.

Some of the lessons will be specific to gouache or other water mediums, other lessons will apply to my work across the board.Oak has a long history of folklore throughout Europe and was sacred to many people, including the ancient Greeks, the Norse and the Celts. They then pull the ring to and fro through the fire until the flames are extinguished, guarding the participants from ill fortune for the year. With gouache, so far my instinct has been to bring areas to a pretty high degree of polish and then spread out and base everything else off of what I’d managed to complete. The speed is extremely appealing to me and I find that the shifts in thinking area pleasant change of pace.
