The first Charizard card in the e-Reader series arrived in 2002 in the Expedition Base set, this time with Hiromichi Sugiyama as it's illustrator. It's a beautiful card, but I can't be the only one gutted that theres no descriptive text at the bottom as on all previous cards.

Neo Destiny also brings in the Light Pokemon who act as an antithesis to the darker Pokemon and also focus on aiding and buffing their teammates. They also often have higher HP than normal Pokemon as well, and again focus on being caring and kind, just like their trainer. Although Charizard has never been officially classified as a Dragon type (despite Alolan Exeggutor somehow making the grade) he still makes it into the Sun & Moon Dragon Majesty special set (special in the sense it couldn't be bought in booster boxes and was only available in collection boxes, pin boxes etc.). " Its wings can carry this Pokemon close to an altitude of 4,600 feet. It blows out fire at very high temperatures".Illustrated by Ryota Murayama. Arguably not quite the competitive staple of its Reshirard predecessor but a nice card none the less, and by no means terrible in play. He even worked with Ash to defeat the Poliwrath during their rematch and has continued to form friendships with other Pokemon and even train with them. The loyalty he has for Ash, and his commitment to training, makes him one of Ash’s strongest Pokemon. Shame he isn’t used more often because it could really boost Ash’s chances. Do We Encounter Dark Pokemon Anywhere Else?This promo is an alternative full art of the Reshirard card from Unbroken Bonds, it was released in the Reshiram & Charizard GX Figure collection alongside a rather cool mini-figure of Reshiram & Charizard. It came in both standard and full art versions. The card was sought after by both collectors and competitive TCG players. It's possibly the nicest looking Reshirard card for me.Illustrasted by Ryota Murayama. It’s a bit sad that the idea of dark and light Pokemon only made it to the card game, because it could be very exciting to learn more about how the role of the trainer influences the Pokemon. Dark Charizard Strengths Holding steady at number 4 on this list is the 2006 EX Dragon Frontiers Charizard Gold Star holo #100. This is the first set where the Pokémon are shown coming out of the character box, appearing to pop off the card. Another unique feature of this is that all Pokémon were basic Pokémon and had already evolved. So if you flipped two coins and got two heads, you would deal 100 damage from the continuous fireball and then discard the two fire tokens. Now, here’s the cool part, because while you are limited to attaching one energy card to one Pokemon a turn, there is no limit to how many energy cards you can attach to your pokemon, as long as you can hold out the required number of turns.

The Team Up Staff prerelease cards share a striking resemblance with the regular prerelease promos, save for one distinct feature—the gleaming gold Staff stamp adorning the lower left corner of the holographic frame. When it comes to Pokemon cards, my motto is ‘collect what you love’. If you’re not a big fan of the character (or the price tags), then I’d recommend against going down this path. If however, you like the character, enjoy the artworks and potentially want something as an investment piece too, then collecting Charizard cards is worth it. Just remember though, card rarity and condition is very important in terms of value. Get clued up before investing heavily. How can you tell if a Charizard card is rare?
