About this deal

Especially after finishing “Incendiary”, just about one hour ago on a rainy gray day, I feel so angry that the world is not an even playing field for all it’s people. When the royal family of Selvina sets out to destroy magic through a grand and terrible inquisition, magic warrior-thief Renata - trained in the art of stealing memories-seeks to kill the prince, leader of the King's Justice, only to learn through powerful memories that he may be the greatest illusion of them all . Like others, I picked The Other Hand off the library shelf by chance as it was the nearest book to hand whilst chasing by 2 year old round the shelves! Your writing is truly outstanding, but so so haunting, I have never had a book stir up every emotion possible within me, as well as making me question my own thoughts and ideas on loss, mental health and post traumatic stress.

You have also shown me how, through the eyes of Terence Butcher and our heroines husband the responsibility of our safety can be felt and how our Security Forces view the world, their day at work can be a living hell in comparison to mine. Rebel spying in the palace seems like it should be a fun story, but in reality, it’s mostly Ren wandering aimlessly around the palace hoping that clues will land in her lap. The most confusing aspect of the book remains Cleave's incessant harping on class-conflict -- a surprisingly old-fashioned focus (at least in its artless presentation here). Zoraida Córdova is the acclaimed author of more than a dozen novels and short stories, including the Brooklyn Brujas series, Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge: A Crash of Fate, and The Inheritance of Orquídea Divina.Right at page 316, I was kind of losing my shit as I finally started to get where this book was going. i read and loved little bee (chris cleave's 2008 novel) and i have been an ardent and faithful word-of-mouther for the last year, pushing it onto the bookshelves of anyone who will hear me out. i won't g I’ve been having this issue a lot with books lately and I don’t know if it’s me or the books, but either way, this book definitely felt really slow going.

We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. It’s both a blessing and a curse for Ren, who was stolen from her family as a child and used by the crown to carry out the King’s Wrath, a siege that resulted in the deaths of thousands. The entire thing is written by the unnamed protagonist in a letter to Osama bin-Laden after al-Qaeda bombed a stadium during a big match, taking the lives of her husband and son.Though all these skills are ones we have seen brought to life in other works of Fantasy, the author manages to put her own twist on them seemingly making them unique to this story. There are quite a few twists in the book that I guessed, I didn’t guess all of them, but overall, the plot is largely quite predictable and there’s nothing massively shocking about any of the “big reveals”.

If the narrator stretches our credulity, the other two main characters -- Jasper and Petra -- barely break the bounds of stereotype. The narrator has a bunch of grammatical quirks consistent with her background as a highly intelligent but patchily educated Londoner. From where I come (Finland) Chris can also refer to a woman and I always took it for granted you were one. I loved that LGBTQ+ characters were included in such a casual way in this book, that was brilliant to see, one of the main side characters was gay and then there are female monarchs from other lands who are mentioned to have “queen consorts” which I thought was pretty cool. It's one of the other rare powerful scenes when Butcher describes the moment when it dawned on him that he and his wife came from such very different worlds -- but powerful doesn't mean it fits: Butcher's class-issues, like the class-issues throughout, the novel seem largely irrelevant.

The first one is a good idea -- new information about 'May Day' comes to light -- but what he does with it (the plan is for Jasper and Petra to get it published in their newspaper) is just ridiculous. The author has revived that feeling of intense loss and the way a mind can operate after such a loss. Take that personal journey away and it would be like trying build our identity, our very selves, out of rumour and dreams. I told everyone I knew to read “Little Bee” but “Incendiary” was so intense and disturbing I didn’t know what to do but finish it.
