Stars… By far this is my favorite audio book… It’s not only true, but an exciting story. Narrator Robin Weigert is incredibly convincing in her performance of each character.. She’s brilliant. A must listen. This is Emma’s story, it’s not for the weak at heart. We meet a few other memorable characters along the way, including Granny, Ralph, the Yorkless boys (Luke, Barney, Dan, and Pete), Mr. and Mrs. Yorkless, and others. Stars. Awesome, cinematic historical fiction –“The Whip” is an engaging, thrilling novel narrated beautifully, it’s evident that “The Whip” would make a wonderful Academy Award Winning film.

S. G. (Samuel Groome),Fox, George Queries by another hand for New-England priests and elders to answer,Tyso, John. Copy of a letter which was delivered into the hands of R. Bellingham, late governour of Boston in New-England, for him to read and consider (1676) Stars. Best book for me in 2014, I had so many Omg moments. It had abandonment love hate murder everything you can think of. The chapter’s are very short . A very easy read .Great book. Like a nugget of gold pulled from the riffles is Karen Kondazian’s debut novel The Whip. It may be a book for the times. We can all use a little cowboy wisdom about now and Charley Parkhurst may just be the gal to bring it. A thrilling and soul-searching read, raises questions about revenge and forgiveness; above all, this novel captures brilliantly the zeitgeist of the stagecoach era.Charley became a renowned stagecoach driver for Wells Fargo. She killed the famous outlaw Sugarfoot, had a secret love affair, and lived with a housekeeper who, unaware of her true sex, fell in love with her.

Charley could sense Edmunds not only made love to Charlotte, but to Charley as well. The vision of Charley on the driver’s box, sweaty, dirty, whipping the six-team, powerful and brave as any man. She imagined it excited him to feel Charley beneath him or on top. As it excited her . . . the freedom to be a man and a woman in the same body – at the same time. Karen Kondazian brings forth a narrative flare to the story, making for a fun read that should prove all too difficult to put down, making “The Whip” a choice and much recommended read. It is this secret, its implications and its complications that Karen Kondazian speculates on in her fictional book “The Whip.” In doing so, she humanizes a larger-than-life woman, who concealed her gender, embraced one of the most dangerous professions of the west and became the first woman to vote in the United States. If you like stories about individuals who choose to chart their own destinies this is the book for you. Kondazian did not have an easy job turning Parkhurst’s “stranger than fiction” story into fiction, but the “The Whip” proves to be an entertaining, intense and well-wrought piece of western world building.Three-line whips have also been defied outside of the Brexit context: 97 Conservative MPs voted against the introduction of compulsory Covid passes for nightclubs and large venues in December 2021. What is a free vote? Hardcover. Condition: Very Good. 1st Thus. Hardcover The Whip Hand blue Boards with Gilt Lettering.(We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions etc.).

Karen Kondazian gave three of the most exciting performances I’ve seen in decades of LA theatre-going. Her Serafina in THE ROSE TATTOO revealed that play for me. Her Alexandra del Lago in SWEET BIRD OF YOUTH was terrifying, for her portraying of the ruthless hunger of Williams’ movie star for fame, youth, and beauty. And her Maria Callas in MASTER CLASS let me see that it was a great play; her earthiness and operatic grief trumped Zoe Caldwell’s, at least for me. Charley disguises as a man and applies for a job as stagecoach driver for Wells Fargo. Extremely skilled at the whip and handling the team of horses, Charley wins a competition and trip to San Francisco to even the score with that nameless vigilante. And now she’s written a book! THE WHIP has to be described as a “Western” novel, which is a marketing tool that is or isn’t useful to attract readers. It’s actually just a novel, and a fine one, told with the urgency and intensity Kondazian found in her stage work. It’s based on the true story of Charley Parkhurst; a story I didn’t know but am happy to know now. Parkhurst was a quasi-legendary stagecoach driver who was not, actually, a man. She was a Charlotte, an orphan, a person whose subsequent life seems to have been invented and captured by an American Robert Louis Stevenson. Whips, vigilantes, cross-dressing, revenge …. all my favorite hobbies! The Whip whips by in a blur of narrative, expertly managed by the driver of the stage, the novelist, herself. Highly recommended.

Update: September 2019. I have now fulfilled my ambition to travel to Mljet and explore the route followed by Rex. The National Park, the Veliko Jerezo and Malo Jerezo are indeed paradise and well worth the trip by boat to get there from Dubrovnik, or in our case via the island's only hotel's motor boat from Trstenik on the Croatian mainland, an hour away across the Adriatic (thank you Tui). Her quest for money, and Rex's determination to have her, leads them into a tangled international plot, replete with spies from all the major powers who alternately try to help Rex, or kill him, or both. Rex pretends to throw in with all of them for the money, of course only being loyal to the British spies who warn him they will only go so far to protect him because the job is more important than people - which is exactly what they do. Amazing how visually stimulating the audible presentation of a book can be, especially a book as evocative and superbly written as The Whip by Karen Kondazian when professionally narrated by the skillful and impressive Robin Weigert. Both Ms. Kondazian and Ms. Weigert excel magnificently at bringing into vivid presence the historical reality of a truly amazing woman. This means the vote is not whipped, and MPs may vote as they wish. Free votes are one of the few occasions when members of the government – usually bound to support the government position by the convention of collective cabinet responsibility – can express their independent opinion in the Commons. Traditionally, free votes have been held on matters of conscience, such as fox hunting and assisted dying, when it is accepted that MPs of the same party may have different views. In some circumstances, free votes can be used as a way of managing internal party politics – particularly when there are strongly held and competing views among the party leadership. In such cases, allowing a free vote can prevent an embarrassing government defeat or party rebellion.
