About this deal

Chicken Manure is an effective non-chemical fertiliser and is a useful source of nitrogen, which is the main nutrient plants require for healthy green, leafy root growth. Aging the manure and litter only reduces populations of disease-causing microbes by providing unfavorable growing conditions that cause them to die off gradually due to changes in moisture content, temperature and nutrient availability.

Please Note: To offer the best possible value, smaller weights are repackaged into clear packaging with a black and white label and larger quantities will be supplied in manufacturer’s bags.Unlike dried manure, it cannot be used as such but must be composted or aged before it is applied, or else the high ammonia content will burn the plants. Removing the moisture from the manure inhibits microbial growth and decomposition, preventing the associated smells. is pelleted to produce a weed and bug free product which is so easy to use and virtually smell free.

Scatter a handful of pellets into each layer of garden waste added to the compost heap to enrich the compost and add trace elements. It is not a factory produced chemical fertiliser: it is poultry droppings in their modern, easy to use form. Composting “cools” the manure and litter material, meaning it reduces the ammonia content so it will no longer burn plants.

In residential areas, odors caused by manure piles can quickly become a nuisance to both the chicken owner and surrounding neighbors, if not properly managed. Product Information Our Horse and Chicken Manure is a rich, black manure that is easy to work with and gives great results. Apply in the autumn when preparing winter beds or early in spring as a base fertiliser when preparing your beds for planting. But the high nitrogen in the chicken manure is dangerous to plants if the manure has not been properly composted. Then, about three or four weeks after planting you can sprinkle some around the new plants, and water them in.Un-composted poultry litter should be worked into the soil where the ammonium released is quickly converted to NO3-N, an important plant nutrient. Compared to other manures, chicken manure and the associated litter are higher in nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus and calcium, and are also rich in organic matter (Zublena, 1993). Because it’s so high in nitrogen, chicken manure is a great natural fertiliser for plants, but if you’re not careful it can be a case of too much of a good thing. Counting back from the expected harvest date, this translates into a late winter or early spring application for most locations. Avoid direct, undiluted, contact with tender young plants – scatter pellets about 50 to 80 cm (2-3 inches) away and work into surface of the soil.
