About this deal

Summary: The Power of Your Subconscious Mind was written by a leading expert on the subject, Dr. Joseph Murphy. From my perspective, this book equates your subconscious mind with God, which is likely a different and challenging paradigm for some to accept. This post was last updated November 22, 2019. The main issue for me was that, while the message in the book is quite clear and simple, Murphy repeated it ad infinitum. While some readers might appreciate the core message being repeated for effect, I found it a little unnecessary. By proceeding with faith and confidence, ideas appear via hunches, intuitions or “as an inner silent awareness.” Specialise Murphy, Joseph (August 2010). The miracle of your mind. I love the concept of using your imagination to change your life. It makes a lot of sense to me and appeals to the creative me. One of my favourite literature quotes is, 'I like them to talk nonsense. That is man's one privilege over all creation.' I love that there is no limit to what our minds can do. And to harness that power to alter one's life for the better is a truly inspiring idea. This is reminiscent of the Henry Ford quote, “Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right.” You must remember that a suggestion cannot impose something on the subconscious mind against the will of the conscious mind. In other words, your conscious mind has the power to reject the suggestion given.” This statement makes perfect sense if you don’t have any problems with the idea that your subconscious mind = God. Forsuccess, like happiness, cannot be pursued; it must ensue, and it only does so as the unintended side-effect of one’s personal dedication to a cause greater than oneself or as the by-product of one’s surrender to a person other than oneself.”Auzinger Hager, María (2002). You thought that was all you wanted, but you found after all your efforts that it was not only the money you needed. You also desired true expression of your hidden talents, true place in life, beauty, and the joy of contributing to the welfare and success of others.”

As I mentioned the book is full of such anecdotes. And in every single one of those anecdotes the person's life changes or they get what they want. We create our own misery. No one else does it for us. I think I know exactly what Murphy was saying here. I can attest to the fact that my false concepts of God led me down a path of misery.Do not believe the story that the only way you can become wealthy is by the sweat of your brow and hard labor. It is not so; the effortless way of life is the best. Do the thing you love to do, and do it for the joy and thrill of it.” In the book, Murphy talks at length about the power (and underutilisation) of the subconscious mind. Murphy traveled to India and spent a lot of time with Indian sages, learning Hindu philosophy. He later on formed a new church in America with Hindu ideologies.

The subconscious mind of the universe is one, wait what!? No! It's your own actions that are caused as a result of the subconscious or maybe even the conscious decisions towards a goal that makes things come to pass and not others'. And this does seem like an all too common phenomenon. We are often vessels for the thoughts and feelings of others, absorbing their opinions and constructing our thoughts based upon their worldview. After his first wife died in 1976, he remarried to a fellow Divine Science minister who was his longstanding secretary. He moved his ministry to Laguna Hills, California, where he died in 1981. His wife, Dr. Jean Murphy, continued in this ministry for some years afterwards. Murphy, Joseph (1958). Quiet moments with God. Marina del Rey, Calif.: DeVorss & Co. ISBN 0-87516-276-2. OCLC 14348360.Wealth, according to Murphy, isn’t attracted through hard labour or envy, but springs from our subconscious. Murphy states that overthinking, worrying and anxiety all have a detrimental effect on our physiological processes, which in turn disrupt our subconscious mechanism. Murphy, Joseph (15 April 2019).
