About this deal

The author also gives a lot of details and facts about the life of Lena in Poland, and it is not a typical "shtetl" life. This is a fictionalized account of the true story of a survivor named Fay, and that is why it rates 4 stars vs 3. I was thoroughly involved throughout, although I did think some aspects of the ending were a bit too neatly brushed over. Going to mass every week really helps me; at uni I feel like I’m always running and sometimes I don’t even know where, but mass gives me the chance to stop, it’s so relaxing.

Lena sits down over multiple sessions with Catherine to tell her story of how it came to pass that these two newborn baby girls were thrown out of a moving Nazi transport train in 1943 by desperate women headed to a concentration camp. Handmade cards, photo album scrapbooks, embellishments, charms, party decor such as cake toppers, confetti and cupcake toppers and of course you will also find functional as well as decorative stickers for your planners! She hires a lawyer and a private investigator to help find her friend Karolina's twins that were born during the Holocaust .

This is the first book I have read by Ronald Balson but after having thoroughly enjoyed this one I will definitely go back and read his other novels. Lena’s story starts before the war and takes us into hiding, and then the ghetto, and lands us in the Auschwitz death march. She shares stories about her family and childhood friends along with life in the Jewish ghetto and her time in a concentration camp.So I joined the Public Speaking Society, the people are great and they have great socials but it was so scary. The author had to respect the genesis of the story and use factual information and details and that may have led to the flatness (as other reviewers have noted) of the writing. I believe the society has a family feeling and provides a safe place for students who perhaps don’t know where they’re going but see something in faith.

So I still prefer "Once We Were Brothers," which I loved with no reservations through the last page. The demands of his trial practice have taken him into courts across the United States and into international venues. Keep in mind that anyone can view public collections - they may also appear in recommendations and other places. In truth, the dialogue is at times clunky, the trial, overdone and I often found myself skimming over these parts to get to the stronger parts of the past. There are questions that need to be asked, answers that need to be uncovered and a secret that needs to be revealed. Readers who crave more books like Balson’s Once We Were Brothers (2013) and Kristin Hannah’s bestselling The Nightingale (2015) will be enthralled by Karolina’s Twins. A story of love and sacrifice, bonds between women, mothers and children, all worthy messages, all conveyed within.

who experienced many of the travails described to me by Fay, but, some of the episodes, mthough authentic in their occurrence to others, did not involve Fay," The author has also drawn upon memoirs, Yizkor Books, museum archives and personal stories conveyed to the author. The family was Polish speaking rather than Yiddish speaking, and was very much integrated into Polish society. Karolina was vivacious and beautiful, athletic and charismatic, and Lena has cherished the memory of their friendship her whole life. The later parts of the story seemed to be almost written by a different author and turn into a poorly written novel . She begins to recount a tale harkening back to her harrowing childhood in Nazi-occupied Poland, of the bond she shared with her best friend, the beautiful, vivacious Karolina. I look back and I see what I’ve achieved; I was a Student Ambassador, now I help teach Maths to first year students, so it’s really cool that I can share my experiences and skills with people.
