About this deal

The vocals, again acting as an instrument for the beginning of the track, work beautifully in tandem with the magical synths throughout the album. The emotions on this track are also incredibly present by the end, with the last note sung by Tyler being painfully pretty.

Eventually our protagonist comes to the realization of being used and accepting that his love slipped away in "Gone, Gone / Thank You". The song opens with a pharrelism, and a lofi drum sample and vocal passage, contrasted strongly against the clear cut and elegantly produced synths and trills. I enjoy the overlapping of the vocals on this track so much, like when he's rapping and then he also says some shit in the back. The track is a beautiful, triumphant closer, using very few lyrics to get across the idea that an unstable Igor is desperately trying to fix things with his former love interest. The second half where twinkly synths feel as though they are climbing is so cool, and snaps are so random and interesting.

The arrival of Igor serves as a reset for the strong romantic emotions Tyler was entangled in during the album's first half. Andy Kellman of AllMusic said, "Tyler and a motorcade's worth of supporting vocalists fulfill the promise and threat with what plays out, a creatively vital and emotionally heartsick set with as much pain, vulnerability, and compulsion as a classic soul LP". This is truly the point in the listening experience where Igor sounds nothing but hopeless, especially after the beat switch, where the mood becomes unambiguously low and depressed, like falling into the worlds least euphoric opiate high. There are so many different sounds used throughout this song, and imo it's the most boring of the album.

there's no tracklist, my copy continuously skips, the cover is weirdly pixelated and of course there's the flimsy paper inner-sleeves (cause why wouldn't there be). While also perfectly illustrating the turning point where igors dark side starts to show itself, and overcome his care for his love interest.Danial Spielberger of HipHopDX saying "On IGOR, Tyler showcases a more polished iteration of the hazy pop he's been perfecting for years. And when he says I got my thing, you got your thing, and it does that weird sound, ahhh I just love it. The limited edition "mint" pressing is by Memphis Record Pressing, an arm of GZ Media and that edition has not yet arrived. Interlude/Boyfriend: I have this album on cd, so when i hear this song I bop like crazy, but I haven't listened enough times to dissect. The section where the drums drop out and the vocals harmonise over the piano chords hits so hard, the voices almost meld into each other and they’re such a perfect intro to the soul elements, along with the closing fuzzy synth section, which in turn introduces the albums more distorted elements. Tyler has never been one for traditional song structure, but on IGOR he's like the Minotaur luring you through a maze that twists and turns around seemingly impossible corners, drawing you into the thrilling unknown. while Kendrick is great in his own way, I think Tyler's artistry and attention to detail puts him above pretty much everyone except Kanye and a couple others. In a mixed review, The Guardian 's Dean Van Nguyen stated: "It's no bad thing that Igor downplays Tyler's indomitable personality – but the writing and execution do not quite replace what has been lost. The simple haze, almost vinyl like cracking throughout this record is so comforting and nice, and comes up later in the record. As the title says, it’s ethereal, it takes me to a whole different fucking headspace when I hear it, in a way few other albums could even dream of. This track, as well as others, are so densely packed, and do so much throughout its runtime, that it could be dissected for ages. While the lyrical content is glossed over, it’s still a fascinating listen and demonstrates Tyler’s rarely rivaled attention to detail in his work. With that bass line going throughout, lasting to the end, and the introduction of a new synth which lasts like 15 seconds and leaves.
