About this deal

Romero's Dawn of the Dead is widely appreciated as one of the best and most influential horror films. The rest of the extras consist of material produced for Universal’s DVD and Blu-ray releases, including several featurettes, a non-optional introduction by Zack Snyder, and a set of four side-by-side Storyboard Comparisons.

The second half goes long beyond the film’s release, looking at the rest of Romero’s career and how it, and the film industry, changed after Dawn. As is the case with the other cuts, optional subtitles are available in English for the Hard of Hearing. It is liberal and ecstatic, fully rounding out its characters, its world and its place, while poking fun at the same. Like many of you, we here at The Bits are massive fans of Dawn of the Dead and have long been hoping for a deluxe edition of the film. There’s plentiful gloss to this do-over, giving the action more splatter while updating character archetypes.

Teal becomes dominate once settled in the mall, driving the color to a strict, almost monochrome tone indoors. Some German releases also included a fourth version of the film, entitled The Ultimate Cut which combined footage from all three versions, as well as a featurette detailing its creation (but this is not considered an official release by anyone associated with the production). For some, Dawn of the Dead 2004 is one of their favorites, but for others, it’s a mildly entertaining facsimile of a full-blown masterpiece.
