About this deal

Planter Bottoms- Planter bottom options provide drainage on hard surfaces such as concrete, allowing full-size vegetable gardens on rooftops, driveways and parking lots. One niggle. Even using the lump hammer recommended I found some of the pins difficult to drive home, either the pins were slightly oversized or the holes slightly undersized. My unit was built on a lawn which, although levelled and bedded still had some 'spring'. The plastic tubes used to drive home the pins added their own measure of elastisity and absorbed their share of my hammer blows. On the top layer, running out of plastic tubes, I applied a Surform tool to bevel the edges of the pins. For my next project I shall procure a metal tube. Everything else went well until it came to the top layer. Apart from the missing corner brace which was sent promptly but arrived damaged, they don't include correctly sized plugs. The instructions ask you to saw the top bit off which for a luxury item like this is disappointing. Why not sent correctly sized plugs?

It’s important to protect your perennials from frost in the winter, and those in raised beds are even more susceptible to damage as the soil is exposed at the side as well as the top. Place horticultural fleece or hardware cloth over your raised beds to keep them warm. What size raised bed is best for your garden? It depends both on the size and shape of your growing area, as well as considerations such as accessibility, ground conditions, and soil depth requirements. Consider these tips when planning your garden: Octagonal raised beds make a striking centrepiece and can be used to plant virtually anything. A larger sized bed can accommodate a small tree or shrub, and look beautiful when surrounded by shade-loving plants.

Circular and curved raised beds, planters and edges are created using our standard WoodBlocX timber components cut at 7.5 degree angles. Triangles, hexagons, octagons and other more unusual shapes can be built using obtuse and acute 45 degree angle components. To further increase the lifespan of your raised beds, you can apply a stain or sealant. We offer Eco Wood Treatmentas one option.Eco Wood Treatment works by penetrating wood fibers to create a natural buffer against water and fungal decay. It increases wood's durability while creating an aged, silvery patina after just a few hours. Innovative Design Integrating a trellis into your raised bed will maximise production and create more space. Plants that can be grown on trellises include vegetables such as pole beans, peas, tomatoes and cucumbers. Some trellises are permanently attached to the raised bed, while others can be installed temporarily and taken down in the winter months. If you’ve got a long, narrow space, a 2’ x 6’ raised bed is perfect. This style of bed can be slotted against a garden wall or used to section off your patio from your lawn. Green and Recycle Material: With a long useful life, Steel is an environmentally-friendly material made using a "green process." Not only is it 100% recyclable, steel is also the world’s most recycled material.

But anyway, isn’t she pretty? The garden is such a fun new thing to have! I’ll be posting the first few veggies as soon as they are ripe enough to try. This one side has mostly tomatoes, and I planted marigolds because I read they are a natural companion plant that helps repel garden pests (I do think I should add more though)… The advantages of using our sustainable, high-quality wood is its lasting durability and timeless elegant style. Guaranteed to last up to 15 years without rotting or distortion when installed following our custom guidelines means you get to enjoy years of growing your own food or even an Eden paradise featuring a Koi fish pond and beautiful planter garden bench. If the item is faulty or you have received an incorrect item, we will not charge you for the return costs. (We require proof for faulty or incorrect items e.g photos or videos) Made in the USA from cedar, a durable and naturally rot-resistant wood, these raised beds are sturdy and easy to assemble .Their open bottoms allow roots to grow into the soil beneath to access nutrients and important soil biology. If you’ve not got a huge garden, creating curved beds can help give the illusion of more space. Go the extra mile as in the image above and opt for a two-tiered curved garden bed. That’s almost double the planting space!

Galvanized steel is safe to use for a vegetable garden. Although it contains zinc, it does not leach into the soil in a way that may cause harm, which makes these beds completely safe to grow vegetables in. Besides, zinc is an essential micronutrient for plants and is a natural part of the soil. Incredibly High-Strength: The surface of Aluzinc is twice as hard as regular galvanized steel, and more than 5x harder than wood or plastic. With high wear resistance, Vego raised beds hold soil for decades without deforming.

While we’re firm believers that any garden can benefit from a raised bed, there’s a lot of things to think about when it comes to implementing this style of bed into your garden. Size, design, material, location and soil type all need considering, and the options for each are seemingly endless! We strongly recommend putting a liner and drainage medium in all of our structures, especially in raised beds where you are planning on using soil to grow with ( we now sell a liner). WoodBlocX raised beds do not have a base but you can add your own if you require (we recommend using a good-quality plywood). Secondly the holes underneath the top pieces were drilled out badly and for the end two holes, incorrectly! The end two holes in each top piece don't take into account the the base of the plug that sits on top of the metal brace leaving a small gap. Why are these not drilled out correctly, it makes the whole thing look odd. This 4’ x 4’ raised garden bed is a manageable size but still provides plenty of planting space. This size of bed is the first step towards creating a square foot raised bed, which is a great way to keep your plants and produce well-organised.
