The entire process only takes about 10 minutes. Heart rate between the Fitbit and Garmin was actually pretty similar, though without a chest strap, it’s hard to say whether they were both bang-on accurate, or well off target. All I can say is that despite Jonathan Bray’s misgivings about the heart-rate monitor in the Fitbit Sense – the same tech in use here – it does perform at least as well as a wearable on the other wrist.

For example, I agree with Joe that the SpO2 sensor and watch face are great additions (it's actually my favorite watch face so far), but the fact that you can't access this information outside of that watch face, nor take a reading on-demand, is kind of a bummer.

The Versa 3 was released in September 2020. It costs a little more than the older model in the US and UK, and is substantially more expensive in Australia. Keeping the screen always-on, though, drains the battery significantly, giving you no more than two days on a full charge. And if you use the GPS combined with the always-on display, you’ll need to charge the battery every day.

There’s also a lot more fitness monitoring features on the Versa 3, making the on-device interface a lot busier than what was available on the Versa 2 at launch. There are ways to manage them all, but they do take time to get used to.
