About this deal

A glimpse at upcoming UK Steelbook release dates until early 2024: here’s what’s getting the fancy treatment and when. Elsewhere in the series a famous organist is murdered mid-tune in the chapel, Great Slaughter's first sci-fi convention results in a mysterious kidnapping and a 'dead cert' at the screen tests for the new 'Agent Best' ends up, well... dead. To top it all, Felix has a challenge of his own when his fiancée Victoria arrives from Bermuda with an ultimatum which could change everything... Season 1 debuted on BritBox on Tuesday, Feb. 8. The next day, and the Television Critics Association press tour panel, producer Will Trotter told the assembled reporters that Season 2 was officially greenlit. In a statement, Trotter said, "We are absolutely thrilled to see Sister Boniface return for a second series. Jude Tindall and the team of writers have created unforgettable characters full of wit and mischief. Lorna's performance is as forensic as her character — the sharp intelligence, charm, and warmth she brings to the role is an irresistible combination. The entire cast and crew have been a joy to work with, and I think that shines through in this big-hearted and hugely original show." The light-hearted crime series stars Lorna Watson ( Watson & Oliver), reprising her role as nun, moped rider, wine maker and part-time forensic scientist Sister Boniface from an early Father Brown episode. Felix was supposed to be on secondment to the Metropolitan Police but an administrative error lands him in Great Slaughter. A cast of eccentric local characters combined with his boss’s reliance on a nun leave him reeling. Although as Detective Inspector Sam points out, that “Nun” ensures they have the highest clean-up rate in the county.

Father Brown’s tenth series recently concluded on screen and averaged 2.3 million viewers making it the year’s biggest daytime drama to date. Father Brown, which first aired on BBC daytime in 2013, is a global success, broadcasting in over 232 territories around the world. Executive producer Will Trotter commented: “We are absolutely thrilled to see Sister Boniface return for a second series. Jude Tindall and the team of writers have created unforgettable characters full of wit and mischief. Lorna brings Sister Boniface to life in such a charismatic way, we know her delightful performance will be enjoyed by all.” Created by Father Brown writer Jude Tindall, the show has been a hit with audiences since its debut. Sister Reginald's incorrigible brother Alfie Lynch, a habitual thief, turns up at the nunnery seeking help. He is put up at Mrs Clams's guest house. At an art exhibition in the local gallery, egocentric artist Gerry Ardwell features himself as the main exhibit. The next morning Ardwell is found dead, bludgeoned by a brass statue, and a valuable painting stolen. Alfie Lynch is missing and DI Gillespie's main suspect. Sister Reginald pleads with Sister Boniface to find the real culprit, a task made harder when the painting is found in Lynch's room and other suspects have alibis.

On the surface, the cozy mystery series Father Brown, which is based on the G.K. Chesterton novels in which a Roman Catholic priest solves crimes in a quaint English village, seems an unlikely candidate to spawn an interconnected world of spin-offs. Yet, that's precisely what happened with the arrival of Sister Boniface Mysteries last year.

We’re told that Father Brown himself, actor Mark Williams, will also be making a special appearance! In season 2, Sister Boniface is expected to participate in investigations involving a chess tournament and a pirate radio station, among other unique scenarios. She'll also have to defend her reputation in court when the conviction of her greatest adversary, “The Pear Tree Poisoner”, is called into question. Emma Ayech, Channel Director for Drama, says: “We are so excited to see our brilliant vespa-riding nun return for more crime solving. The series has been one of our highest rating shows for 2023, so it’s fantastic to be giving our audience the gift of a brand new, feature-length episode this Christmas.” BritBox North America have recommissioned the charming mystery series Sister Boniface Mysteries for a second series, Executive Producer for BBC Studios Drama Productions, Will Trotter announced today on the BritBox Television Critic’s Association panel. Sister Boniface Mysteries is a spinoff of the fan-favorite series Father Brown, also produced by Will Trotter. It’s fantastic to be giving our audience the gift of a brand new, feature-length episode this Christmas.” When’s the release date?

The Location for the towns village hall in Great Barrington, Gloucestershire . This hall is used multiple times during the Season 2. Also, I haven’t read many scripts like this where I’ve laughed out loud. There are lots of detective series, but not many are as quirky as this!" Britain is in the grips of the 'Big Freeze' - the worst winter on record. Sister Boniface and her fellow travellers are stranded in a train after a frozen coupling snaps, leaving the last carriages stranded in snow. When The Star of the Orient, a precious jewel, is stolen from its safe and a passenger is discovered murdered, Sister Boniface must use her exceptional detection skills to decide who among the suspects is responsible. But with little signs of rescue and a failing generator, passengers must also contend with a more pressing issue - freezing to death. Filming of a bawdy comedy, Oh Do Behave Constable, in Great Slaughter lands Sister Boniface in hospital with a broken leg. Felix has been on set to advise on correct police procedure. When the director Sexton St. Juste is strangled with a brassiere suspicion falls on four cast members who all have a motive. Sister Boniface enlists Sister Reginald and Sister Peter, without Reverend Mother Adrian's knowing, to find evidence at the crime scene while Sam and Felix look for the murder weapon. A running film camera at the murder scene pointing at a wall gives Sister Boniface a clue and Felix's discovery of an 8mm home movie entitled The Wedding the murderer's motive. A copycat poisoning of Irene Symonds brings into doubt evidence against Myrtle Hunnisweet, aka The Good Samaritan, gathered by Sister Boniface and Max. Instead of prison Hunnisweet, a fan of Agatha Christie, was declared insane and sent to a psychiatric hospital. Another poisoning, of Saul Cropper, leads to Sam's suspension. Suspects include Symonds's husband who knew of his wife's many extra marital affairs, psychiatric nurse Brenda Bristow needing money and sole beneficiary of her grandfather Saul Cropper. A third suspect is author Oswald Blower writing a book to prove Hunnisweet's innocence. Sister Boniface is convinced Hunnisweet is communicating by code with the copycat killer. A painting and hospital magazine in Hunnisweet's room provide a clue and forewarning to Sister Boniface of an attempt to poison Sam and then probably herself.
