Despite Loken's objections Horus decides to enter with 1st, 5th, 13th and 19th companies, leaving Loken and Torgaddon's companies to defend the entrance.

Back on Davin's moon Loken and Torgaddon discover the anathame, which Loken recognises as the weapon stolen from the Hall of Devices on Xenobia, leading him to conclude that Erebus was behind Horus's wounding.

The seeker after truth must have a care he is not deceived, for false knowledge is far more dangerous than ignorance. Loken moves in this book from the interesting knight-errant of Abnett's previous novel to a boring empty-suit with a gun under McNeill's inept pen.

Happily, such doubts were set aside when we had our first meeting on the subject in Black Library Towers.
