About this deal

Directed by the BAFTA-nominated Cy Endfield, whose credits include Zulu and Hell Drivers, Hide and Seek also stars Oscar winner Hugh Griffith, Bond villain Curd Jürgens and Golden Globe-winning British actress Janet Munro; the film is presented here in a brand-new transfer from the original elements, in its as-exhibited theatrical aspect ratio. Ian Carmichael, overdoing both comic and dramatic effects, makes an unprepossessing hero; most of the minor roles are dully overacted; and even Hugh Griffith, gleefully hamming it up as a modern Noah fleeing the nuclear deluge, fails to make his scenes seem anything other than tiresome irrelevancies designed to bolster a faltering plot. As David is driven away, he looks back to see two agents (Monty Warren and Cyril Cross) speaking with Melnicker. They are chased around in the train until Maggie pulls the emergency stop cord and she and Garrett jump off the train.

King's Parade appear in 'Nothing But the Best' and a similar view can be seen in 'Out of the Shadow' and 'Franklyn'. It doesn't always make sense and the tone varies but the story and cast are pleasing enough to carry the film along. Not exactly the Ministry of Defence, this is the entrance to the Anatomy Building of University College London on Gower Street. It is revealed that this was all an elaborate trap to trick Garrett to "voluntarily" come to this hotel - he has been used like a pawn in a chess game. There are shades of Alfred Hitchcock’s man on the run tales here (especially The 39 Steps, which the basic structure loosely resembles), sharing a similar sense of wry humour that runs throughout the story, an ever-so-slightly winking sensibility enhanced by the amount of comedy actors making up the supporting cast.Facing south towards Grove Bridge (No 164) on the Grand Union Canal near Chandlers Cross, Hertfordshire located by Anthony Spencer. The random occurrences circumvent this intention and before we know it he has met Janet Munro and is in Yorkshire. At least the denouement explains everything even if i wasn't exactly sure what was going on beforehand. Maggie tells Garrett to meet her at the train station, where she convinces him to board the train with her.

Curt Jurgens pops up for the finale in a trial run for his Bond villain role and Janet Munro is quite lovely.David Garrett is a professor of astrophysics at the University of Cambridge, working on tracking Russian rocket launches. When Melnicker notices two individuals enter the hall he is distracted and excuses himself for the lunch break. Ian Carmichael was apparently disappointed with the production of this vehicle that neither knows not cares what it is meant to be. Unknown to them, Garrett has rigged the alarm on his wristwatch to cause the boat to explode, killing the three henchmen. Please do not forward additional screen captures to us but bring the detail to our attention, for we do, and are, 're-addressing' these older entries as time allows.

British film critic Leslie Halliwell said: "Too many mysterious happenings with too little explanation sink this comedy-thriller from the start. Maggie seems to be avoiding committing to anything and Garrett resigns himself to continuing on the train for the time being. Maggie then says she has to leave and Garrett leaves alone after copying down Maggie's phone number.

DISCLAIMER: Note that inclusion of a title within our catalogue does not guarantee rights or print availability for a specific territory. Imagine North by Northwest but with Ian Carmichael substituted for Cary Grant, Janet Munro for Eva-Marie Saint, Curt Jurgens for James Mason, a canal boat instead of a crop sprayer and cliffs along the coast of Yorkshire instead of Mount Rushmore.
