About this deal

I like outspoken girls. Girls who bust my balls. Like Brenna Jensen - she’s the very definition of bold, and she doesn’t make me want to sprint out of the room.” While I adored all the characters in this book, there were two things that didn’t work for me. There’s kind of a love triangle in the first half of this book and I felt that it was completely unnecessary. It didn’t add to the story at all and it ended so abruptly that it left me wondering what the point of all that drama was for. I also felt like the ending was rushed. This book definitely needed an epilogue to tie up the few loose ends that were left remaining. Conor is the resident manwhore at Briar U (think Dean 2.0 😂) but lately the women he’s been with have him feeling a bit bored.. So when a gorgeous girl goes up to him during a frat party and asks him to pretend to have sex with her? It’s the most exciting thing he’s done in a while. This leads to a fantastic fake relationship between Conor and Taylor. And even though there’s always an underlying chemistry between the two, they become genuine, incredible friends. THE RISK’ is the second full length romance novel in Elle Kennedy’s ‘Briar U' which are a series of interconnected stand-alones. Spoken in 'Dual Perspectives' But the volley of wits and humor isn't confined between Jake and Brenna but to the secondary characters as well. This isn't a long book but somehow, the author managed to give all the secondary characters personalities that makes you want to know more about them. Every character interaction served to further the plot and the characters' development.

Stupid comments notwithstanding, he’s a sweetheart. He has his own set of insecurities, but he’s also a goofball and knows how to cheer someone up. He was so easy to empathise, and I truly enjoyed his story and character development. I might’ve even teared up.I feel like I'm being so harsh on this book. I have decided I'm gonna try and take NA romances more lightly after this... if I find an hidden gem I'll be happy, otherwise I'll just read to have a good time... hopefully... Now don't pay much mind to my rating. Because a 3.5 star for me means that I enjoyed it. Quite a bit actually. This was a super cute, slow burn, friends-to-lovers trope with plenty of laughs and deliciously steamy. Of course I will never get enough of the Briar boys, so I was all over this like white on rice. Conor Edwards is a regular at Greek Row parties…and in Greek Row sorority beds. He’s the one you fall for before you learn that guys like him don’t give girls like me a second glance. Except Mr. Popular throws me for a loop—rather than laughing in my face, he does me a solid by letting me take him upstairs to pretend we’re getting busy. I really thought the lowest I would ever go on a Kennedy read, particularly for Off Campus/ Briar U books, would be a three. I thought THE MISTAKE would be that one outlier for me. But then THE RISK happened.. Now that you’ve gotten to know a little bit about Jake & Brenna, you can read about how these two are caught up in a modern day sports version of Romeo & Juliet.

As Jake and Brenna begin to spend time together, they are both surprised to find that they actually enjoy each other’s company. It’s obvious that there is something there, something worth exploring. Their bond grows stronger, trust is beginning to form, and Jake proves to Brenna the sort of man he really is, a man that can be there for her when she needs him. Secrets are shared, and real feelings come in to play. But is it enough? Their teams are rivals. Their friends are enemies. And Jake is graduating and moving away. Brenna has one year left.If you're looking for a swoony and steamy New Adult sports romance, this will certainly fit the bill. Was it my favorite in the series. Not quite. But it still hit the spot just right.

When enemies who have that witty banter and know that as rivals they must be far away, their attraction and emotional attachment is what makes them inseparable...I could tell you so much more about this book & series , but I think this one of those moments where less is more⬇ The Let's Keep It a Secret for No Good Reason trope. I get not telling the teammates, her father or whoever. But Brenna not telling Summer just because "she would just tell Fitz" makes it sound like Summer is a terrible friend and, as far as I remember, she was not. Summer Di Laurentis is Dean’s little sister and for anyone who has read The Score, then you know who Dean is. Summer is new to Briar U, she was forced to leave her former Ivy League college due to being in a whole heap of trouble. Summer arrives at the Kappa Beta Nu sorority house with the intention of starting a new college with a clean slate, but unfortunately things don’t go as planned for her. She soon discovers that despite her desire to start again, her reputation has followed her to her new college. To say Summer received an unwelcome reception would be an understatement. I think too much time was wasted on Taylor and her insecurities when it came to how she perceived herself in the eyes of her peers, she was always dieting, always wearing clothes two sizes too big for her and always going on about the size of her chest. It just made her issues too much of a focal point.

In his arms, I feel steady again, finally upright after being thrown askew. Because when we aren’t together, the world feels misaligned. I should have looked beneath the surface and taken the time to get to know Summer first. I judged her…and I’m not proud of myself. Slowly Fitzy see's another side of Summer emerge as they spend more time together he realises his first assumptions about her were wrong. In the end they come together as two friends helping the other out, he wants to draw her into a character based on a video programme he's designing and in turn he helps get her thoughts on paper for her thesis.Yup, hungering for Conor Edwards is very, very bad. Because he’s exactly the kind of man who will break my heart. Even if he doesn’t mean to. I can honestly say that in my personal opinion Elle Kennedy redeemed herself in my eyes, Cuz I really enjoy the 1st book in this series as I did this one what i didn't love, was the way the relationship played out. one of the things i love most about elle's books is that the relationship is the star of the show. no long drawn out individual character scenes until the 70% mark. we get character interaction. not so in this book. due to fitz being too scared to admit to his feelings, we get a lot of avoidance when i think it would have benefited the book to have the characters interact more. i appreciated most of the interactions. fitz always asked for consent. and he stood up for summer. all great. but i'm sort of over guys who avoid their feelings. too cliche, really lame.
