About this deal

The Beko Powerclean is easy to use and comes with a range of attachments that will adapt to any home. There are two brushrolls that can be switched out for hard floors and carpets, as well as a crevice tool, mini brush head and dusting attachment. But the Power Scrub’s handling can take some getting used to — the cleaner’s handle section consists of the clean water tank and a thinner plastic portion that hovers over the dirty water tank like a turtle shell. The result? Everything you need to know is contained in this handy guide, with premium and budget-friendly brands sitting side by side – we're talking Shark, Dyson, Miele and Vax just to name a few. Pets — they may be your best friend, but they’re your carpet’s worst enemy (and if you have young kids, you know they’re a close second). If your children or pets are constantly dirtying up your carpet, you might want to add a carpet cleaner to your regular cleaning routine. The Miele Complete C3 Cat & Dog vacuum lives up to its name, with a turbo brush floor head for whipping up pet (and human) hair, as well as a regular carpet floor head and another for hard floors. It is most definitely one of the top pet vacuumson the market, which is how it earned its place in this list.

For everyday use, most households will be fine with the Hoover SmartWash+ or Bissell ProHeat — they’re both much cheaper than the Revolution and can handle typical stains without missing a beat. If you’re looking for a heavy-duty carpet cleaner, the Revolution’s HydroSteam system works as advertised, but you’ll pay extra for the additional cleaning power. The CleanSlate also comes with a two-year warranty along with sizable 23-ounce dirty water and 40-ounce clean water tanks. Although the CleanSlate’s tanks are smaller compared to the Bissell Little Green Pro’s heftier 3/4-gallon tanks, they’re also far easier to clean. The Bissell’s dirty water tank has a small plastic lip that occasionally catches sediment along with nooks that require multiple rinses to be fully cleaned out. By comparison, the Hoover’s tank has a simpler layout, and it’s easy to rinse out with some hot water and a paper towel. I also really appreciate that Debbie not only takes away anything you aren’t keeping, but she ensures that it all gets donated to various charities shops or community groups that she knows are looking for certain items. Anything that can’t be donated will be recycled rather than binned. This makes the clear out guilt-free and actually encouraged me to be more ruthless as I knew someone else might make better use of the item than I have. We cannot praise Debbie highly enough for the way in which she helped us to deal with the contents of a house that needed to be sorted due to bereavement. We were so relieved when we first came across her company as the services she offered were exactly what we had been hoping to find but did not think would exist. From the outset, Debbie approached our situation with immense empathy, understanding and positivity and was not at all daunted by the scale of what the task involved. Debbie’s sorting out of the house surpassed all our expectations and we will be forever indebted to her for the help, support and advice she gave to us at a hugely difficult and stressful time. One of our favorite features on the Hoover Power Scrub is its SpinScrub brush system. Instead of a standard rotating roller brush, the Power Scrub has a series of horizontal brush heads that spin around to dislodge stains. In our testing, the Power Scrub needed only a few passes to clean up dirt, soy sauce and fruit punch stains. It also features a handy Rinse mode that lets you use just water to wash out leftover cleaning solution from your carpet; we’d love to see this option on more carpet cleaners, since many have you premix your water and cleaning solution. The Hoover has two hefty 1.25-gallon water tanks, so you’ll have a good supply on hand.

It's the little things that make this vacuum great, alongside the pet-appropriate level of power and suction. The ability to operate the vacuum by using your foot makes manoeuvring easier, and switching between modes is really easy too. It has wonderful consistent power and the hose is extra long, with 8.5 metres of freedom to get around your house. The canister was easy and fairly dust-free to empty too. The LCD display allows you to switch between the carpet brush and hard floor brush with the touch of a button thanks to Shark's DuoClean, which is a real time-saver for homes with a mix of floor types. If you have a clean dust mop, sweep across the floor from one point to another, avoiding a change of direction. You could also use dust cloths but these will be less effective. 3. Create a water and detergent mixture

Unfortunately, slate easily absorbs stains and can become chipped. Not to worry though, just follow these steps to give your floor a good clean without causing any damage. If you have carpeting or rugs in your home — and especially if you have pets or kids along with them — you’ve probably spent some time trying stain removers of various kinds to deal with spills, pet messes and the grime that builds up with everyday wear. But sprays and scrubbing will only get you so far. The run time is up to 60 minutes, which is pretty impressive for a cordless vacuum and the 1.7-litre capacity is absolutely excellent if you want a cordless vacuum for a family home. During testing the large vacuum head was noticeably excellent for covering a larger surface area in less time. You’ll find two types on the market. Upright carpet cleaners resemble upright vacuums, though they use water tanks in place of a bag or canister, and you use them similarly, pushing them across the room. Portable carpet cleaners are squat, handheld devices — think miniature canister vacuum — meant to be used for spot cleaning or smaller areas; often they include a hose for upholstery and scrubber attachments It really is the fine details that make a vacuum better to use, which is why you can't overlook the magic of a Dyson bin mechanism. Point the dust bin, pull the trigger and everything will actually come out the first time without a fuss - something that pretty much no other vacuum brand has achieved.During testing, we found more features to like about this vacuum too. Wrapping the cord around the bulk of the vacuum for storage or transport is very easy, it's lightweight to get around with and the pull-away feature makes vacuuming stairs or up high.

To find the best portable and upright carpet cleaners, we tested all nine models for more than a month and ran them through a gamut of cleaning scenarios. You’ve likely seen professional carpet cleaning systems for rent at supermarkets and big-box stores, and you may even have hired (or considered hiring) a service like Stanley Steemer when you’ve moved into a new place. But owning your own smaller unit can make a lot of sense, especially if you have pets or small children who regularly dirty your carpets. You’ll want to consider an upright carpet cleaner if you’re regularly cleaning up multiple carpeted rooms and floors. Upright carpet cleaners are much more powerful than portable cleaners, and they use wider cleaning heads to grab more dirt and water from your carpets. Uprights are generally more complex to use compared to portable cleaners — you’ll have to plug in a separate hose whenever you want to do spot cleaning, and they have more parts to clean and maintain once you’re through. If anything goes wrong with your cleaner, the SmartWash+ comes with an extended five-year warranty. It has one of the widest cleaning heads we tested at 12 inches, an inch wider than the Bissell ProHeat, and it’s 0.5-gallon dirty water tank was a bit larger than the Bissel’s 0.4-gallon tank. A 22-foot power cord and 8-foot attachment hose give you plenty of room to work. The Bissell also comes with an excellent steam-only pretreat mode for loosening tough stains. Compared to other upright cleaners, it’s a much simpler way to pretreat areas and won’t require you to carry the Bissell’s hose attachment or a separate spray bottle for spot treatment. We also prioritized usability and design during our evaluations. Models that were easy to carry around, clean and maintain earned the best marks throughout our testing.

Find an empty spray bottle and fill it with half water and half hydrogen peroxide. Spray onto the stained area and leave for a few minutes before using a soft brush or sponge to give the floor a scrub. 4. Use hydrogen peroxide and bicarbonate of soda Cleaning your carpet means ending up with a tank full of dirty water, and though upright carpet cleaners are generally harder to clean than portable cleaners, Bissell tried to make the process as painless as possible. The ProHeat’s water tanks can easily be washed out, and Bissell includes a hooked plastic tool for fishing out hair and other debris in the nozzle. You can also pop off the ProHeat’s nozzle housing by holding down two clearly marked buttons on the cleaner’s front side. Use a clean mop to wipe the sealer across the slate floor – it’ll help to prevent stains from forming. Most hardware shops will sell stone and tile sealers.

Alternatively, use a water/vinegar mixture. Mix one part vinegar (either apple cider or white vinegar) to one part warm water. 4. Time to mop Debbie did an amazing job of helping me clear lots of space in my wardrobe and organise our bedroom storage in general.
