About this deal

I’ve absolutely loved writing the book! It’s forced me to simplify what can feel like quite a complicated subject and it’s boiled down the fundamentals for me as well. The book is very focused on the need to know and I hope my language is accessible too. The major publishing programme will see Red Shed launch six titles in the first year, with further titles to follow. The first three will launch in July 2023, with experts James May, Deborah Meaden and Dr Ronx covering topics including “human-powered vehicles, the human body and how money shapes the world we live in". Absolutely! We didn’t have a lot then and without knowing it, it taught me the value of money. I want to give children the best chance in life early enough so that they can make the best of their money and understand the good and bad things that can come from it.

Natalie wrote: "loved your outfit on tonight's One Show. Great to see you as usual :)" Adam said: "looking lovely and colourful like summer today on the one show .. ur my idol in business." But I’m not a particularly fearful person, which is a trait of an entrepreneur. You always think you’ll be able to work it out. You had a Succession moment when your parents offered to sell Weststar Holidays to you. How did that go? I also spend money on my garden. For me, the biggest luxury in life is me being able to buy something or do something or support a cause if I want to. Travel used to be your greatest luxury, but do your eco-credentials allow it now? As the adage goes, “Money makes the world go around” and this is the perfect book to explain why that is. With inviting, colourful illustrations, this is the first book in the new Little Experts series, and is an accessible guide to money for children.

About Deborah Meaden

But I had always wanted to be in business since I was tiny – I never imagined any other job. That’s why I had my first flower stall at the age of seven. When did you get into business? I use charge cards. It’s like a credit card, but you must pay off the balance in full each month. I don’t use credit in my personal life and that comes from my early days of getting myself into credit card debt when I was at college in Brighton.

Running the Country by ALASTAIR CAMPBELL, a writer, podcaster and strategist who is best known for his work as former PM Tony Blair’s spokesman. When I was writing my children’s book, Why Money Matters, I learned that you form your basic money habits, whether you’re a saver or a spender, by the age of seven. What was your first paid job? Mystified by money? Discover how it shapes the world we live in with Dragons’ Den investor and entrepreneur DEBORAH MEADEN.

How Families Are Made by DR AMIR KHAN, an award-winning full-time GP and resident doctor on Lorraine and Good Morning Britain. Deborah Meaden said, “Money may not literally make the world go round, but it is a very big part of the human world we all live in now. I’m excited to take young readers on a fascinating journey to discover where money came from, how it shapes the world we live in today, and empower all children to become money experts.” Since 2006 she has become a fixture of BBC Two’s business programme Dragons’ Den, driving a hard bargain with entrepreneurs seeking investment. For children interested in finance or parents considering starting their own business, what advice would you give them?

Cally Poplak, executive publisher of Farshore and HarperCollins Children’s Books, said: “This major new series from Red Shed fulfils Farshore’s mission to make every child a proud reader, taking all children on unforgettable adventures, inspiring them to discover more about the incredible world they live in, and giving all children the opportunity to be little experts.” Don’t laugh, but my first proper job was working as a sales room model for a fashion house in London. The only requirement was you had to be five foot 11 inches tall, and I’m actually five foot two, but I think the guy admired my chutzpah. The year-long marketing campaign will include advertising, schools and libraries outreach, ambitious third-party partnerships, influencer collaborations and in-store displays. The launch of the flagship series will be accompanied by a major marketing and PR campaign, which will see the authors bring their expertise to thousands of children across the UK at school events, major festivals, and high-profile media appearances. Architectural tweeted: "Oooh I want that blouse." Jen said: "The colours on your dress Deborah, really suit you.." Prof Nisreen wrote: "Love the top."Through an introduction to the concepts of adequacy, equity, productivity, and efficiency, Baker shows how these can be used to evaluate policy reforms. He argues that we know a great deal about the role and importance of money in schools, the mechanisms through which money matters for student outcomes, and the trade-offs involved, and he presents a framework for designing and financing an equitable and adequate public education system, with balanced and stable sources of revenue. Mystified by money? Discover how it shapes the world we live in with Dragons' Den investor and entrepreneur Deborah Meaden. My parents obviously wanted the highest price and I obviously wanted to negotiate the lowest price. Deborah added: "Always make sure you are thinking of that special thing. If you want that more, put the money to one side. Always have something you are saving for!" A fan replied: "I'm saving for the future, as I never know what I will need. I like being prepared.."
