Gitz were notorious for the fact that for a long time they didn’t have subfactions, until they did. The Battletome did not launch with any, but they’d eventually get some through White Dwarf, then reprinted in Broken Realms. They were…fine, in a ‘better than nothing’ sort of way. To sum it up, if you’re looking to get into the army totally from scratch this is a perfectly fine box for laying the foundation of a bigger force. This is basically tailor made for people who bought Dominion and are looking to expand their Kruleboyz set as a second squad of Gutrippaz will get them where they need to be with their 3 required battleline, and a reinforcement of Boltboyz would not go unappreciated. Troggs have the Glowy Howzit , a mighty 4+ ward artefact that gets turned off if you roll a 1 after taking damage that isn’t negated, and the Pet Gribbly which gives +1 wound and then +1 to hit and wound if you roll a 1 after taking damage that isn’t negated. Battle Report meanwhile pits the mighty new Astra Millitarum against the pus-filled legions of the Death Guard – will Imperial might prevail, or will they be ground into mush under the inexorable advance of Nurgle’s blight? Looking at this list, a few boxes of the same army (especially for 40k) come out almost every year, like Space Marines and Nids. It seems that lately, AoS has newer factions (but this year it looks like some repeats), whereas Warhammer 40k is a mix of both newer and older (like Guard in 2020). Now we end the list with the low point of the christmas battleforces. The Stromdrakes and Annihilators are both tempting, but there are much better options in the Stormcast range than the other models on this list. Despite the savings I’d give this one a miss, buy the decent units separately and spend the remaining money on more competitive models.This is probably the coolest set: all squigs all the time. How good this will be is yet to really be seen with the impending Gloomspite Gitz box on the horizon so it’s hard to gauge. If you’re just getting started in the faction, don’t have many squigs in your Gloomspite army, or are getting it as a gift for someone that simply loves squigs then it’s a pretty great box. Mangler squigs are maybe one of the coolest models in the game and since it’s two full sets of them you can turn one or both into Heroes as well if you really wanted to. Squig Hoppers can be Battleline for Loonboss with Giant Cave Squig . Always nice to see expanded Battleline options. Four, including the now ubiquitous ‘have ever battle tactic you complete be from your faction list’. Protect da Shrine! Could potentially see some use, requiring you to have no enemy models within 12” of the Loonshrine at the end of the game, and for it to have not been smashed to rubble. Superior Spell-flinger has a Tzeentchy flair and asks you to have two of the Gitz endless spells on the battlefield when the game ends. You don’t have as much control of that as you might like, but the Scuttletide at least can be quite difficult to dispel. Break out the marshmallows – the Horns of Hashut are coming. This warband was first available in Warcry: Heart of Ghur and comprises 10 miniatures, including Ruinators, Demolishers – one of whom is armed with the deadly Flamehurler – and Shatterers.
