Point Horror for a new generation . . . best read under the covers in one sitting.' Kathryn Foxfield, author of Good Girls Die First. 'A supernatural terror-fest! Murphy takes you on a terrifying murder spree across London, relentlessly building the tension to a blood-curdling climax. I absolutely devoured it!' Kat Ellis, author of Harrow Lake. To distract herself she gives her full attention to her work placement in an old Victorian museum. The museum's murderous and supernatural past plays heavily on Niamh as well as playing the role of Jane (who was a real person) which makes her uncomfortable as she also bears a striking similarity to Niamh. When she becomes friends with the mysterious and gorgeous colleague Tommy, they hit it off and the chance of romance seems to be the welcome distraction she needs. Will Tommy's dark secrets lead to her getting hurt in more ways than one, is there a supernatural connection to the serial killer of the past to the one in the present and will the murderer strike again and claim Niamh as his next victim only time will tell?

The Last One to Die by Cynthia Murphy – eBook Details Niamh is a great character, brave and feisty and determined to solve the horrific mystery she has become embroiled in. The other characters in the book are all well written and the author makes the reader distrust each of them so that we do not know until the end of the book who is truly on Niamh's side. I especially liked Jess, who becomes a real ally to Niamh. The ending of the book is a tour-de force of horror, with open coffins, bundles of bones and Niamh in deadly danger from a vengeful ghost. All in all, with the exception of the magic appearance of the little sister in the end, I really enjoyed this book. It was creepy and spooky and unputdownable. I would recommend it and I look forward to the author’s next book, because this is my second book by her that I rate this high.Author Luke Palmer introduces his new book, Play (Firefly Press) about four boys growing up together, the challenges, the friendships, and what hap... If magic is thrown into a story, it has to either be a defining role or weaved well into the world-building so that there is a sense of believability of its place in the mystery. Otherwise, the resolution just feels lazy and unfinished.

But the ending was still good. We find out why x is doing all this. Why they have done it for so long. And yes, I don’t approve, but I cannot help to feel a bit of the heartstrings being tugged. I also loved that we get a bit after all the scary bits. See how Niamh is doing and what is next for her. I also loved that surprise bit about Geoff and who his partner was. Oh my! Couple goals indeed. XD Sarah Naughton tells us about her new book, You Better Watch Out, a dark, edge-of-your-seat thriller, out 12th October. I though this book was going to be a murder mystery, which I guess it was I just hadn't realised it was a supernatural one.

This is the start of a story that will keep you guessing. I really loved the writing style. It flowed easily for me. Characters were believable and I grew to care about what happened to them. We spoke to Sue H. Cunningham, the author behind Totally Deceased – the brand-new, hilarious, high-stakes YA murder mystery! I feel that this is an author who is taking the first steps on what promises to be a very successful career. My only disappointment was the reveal at the end wasn’t as grand, it was a little predictable, but I still wanted that AHA! moment. As the story progresses, there are some frightening incidents which are beautifully described. The author uses many devices to increase the tension; a seance at a party, shadowy figures hiding in the dark. The scene in which Niamh is in a deserted underground station and hears the sound of metal scraping on metal behind her is extremely atmospheric. In another incident, Niamh is trapped in the basement of a library, and the author brilliantly describes Niamh's panic and desperation as she tries to escape.

Skin color changes, with lips and nail beds that are pale, bluish, or, in people of color, purplish Entertaining and menacing in equal measure, and loaded with cliff-hangers and red herrings, this accomplished debut brings old school Point Horror novels to mind. What do you do when you go for a summer course and find out people are dying left and right… and they all look similarly to you?Niamh was an interesting MC and at times I was very irritated with her and her actions, but I guess I would feel that way with most 16 year olds. I liked the secondary characters, especially Ruth and Meghan, but I feel like they could have been more flashed out. It has all the elements of a thrilling horror but there’s also a dash of the supernatural and some romance. Niamh is an engaging main character and I loved seeing London through her eyes as a tourist. I also loved the side characters of Jess and her mum Ruth, both of whom added further depth to the story. Last One to Die is suspenseful from the very beginning, because Niamh knows that she’s in danger. She just doesn’t know what/who the danger is. Trusting people is hard and so is making new friends again. And as the book goes on, the intensity increases and the stakes get higher. Skulason B, Hauksdottir A, Ahcic K, Helgason AR. And sure, I'll briefly skim over Jessica, Jasmine, Meghan and Will. Why? Because they were flat, one-dimensional walking tropes. Jessica was the classic "best friend", Jasmine was the classic "mean girl" (with a side dose of kleptomanic tendencies that is never explored??) , Meghan was the stereotypical "extroverted, adoring sister" and Will was the "wronged suspicious lanky dude" . And I think that about sums them up to be honest. I’m a bit of a hard one to scare, as I constantly second guess the plot and who is going to die next, though I love a slow burn, anxiety inducing stream of events. My first memory of a horror film was my scariest…I was ten and alone in the living room, skipping through channels before bed. I stopped on something called ‘A Nightmare on Elm Street’ and a bloody body bag being dragged through a hallway…needless to say I screamed and hid my face in my hands. Armistice Day casualties surpassed the daily average on the Western Front.
