About this deal

Our favorite power bank has a 10,000mAh battery, and the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has a 5,000mAh battery, so the math should be simple, right? It charges twice. Except that's not how it works. Power banks are not 100% efficient, and even though you start with plenty of power, a lot of it is lost in the charging process. Anker batteries also look great and are built with high quality parts. The display on our best battery for power users is bright and sharp OLED display, totally unnecessary for a power bank, but that's what makes Anker the best. It far exceeds our expectations of what's necessary to make power banks that are great. The next standard portable power bank size is 20,000 mAh. Not all power banks in the 20k range will have a capacity of exactly 20,000 mAH — that’s just a handy benchmark figure. Naturally, 20k power banks are bigger and heavier than their 10k little siblings. Most 20k banks weigh at least one pound and are roughly the size of a small tablet or jumbo candy bar. Editor’s Note: In November 2023, we updated this article to provide additional information on how we tested and evaluated power banks. The Best Power Banks of 2023

It may happen that after waiting several hours, or even a day, your power bank doesn’t charge fully. It may only charge partially, or not at all.You may wonder if this signifies a complete failure of your power bank, or if it’s just a minor issue. An insufficiently inserted power cable could be the source of the problem, resulting in an unstable connection. Verify that both ends of the plug securely fit into their respective charging ports. In general, any charging source that can deliver around 15w or more could be considered “fast charging.” Large power banks are likely to be more efficient than average and small power banks to be less efficient than average. Since large power banks also cost more money, this is reassuring as it means a high-quality product is giving you more juice for the energy you put into it. All these symptoms are pointing to an overcharged battery that has expanded. In this stage Li-ion batteries can be dangerous, read more about it here. Troubleshooting Did Not Solve the Issue? If you followed the suggested troubleshooting list and the problem still persists then there are two main possibilities:

We like that this simple power bank is free of frivolous features. It serves its purpose perfectly and doesn’t pretend to be anything more than a reliable power bank. The easy-to-read LED display allowed us to keep accurate tabs on its battery life. Its rate of power delivery is right up there with the best banks on the market, but the bank itself is fairly low to charge. When you connect a power bank to a power outlet to recharge it, one of the LED lights will usually blink, indicating that the power bank is taking up the charge. As you can see in the image above, the pattern in which the LEDs are light up signifies the level of charge in the power bank: Compared to the smaller banks we tested, the Sherpa boasts several significant upgrades. First, it offers wireless charging. Just set a compatible smartphone or another device on the charging pad and it’ll power up sans cable. There are also cool additional features to consider. Our favorite power bank has a built in charging plug so it can go right into a wall outlet. Some power banks have data about your charging devices. Some are just super small and cute. Which power bank is the best quality? To test charging times and claims, we charged a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra and an Apple iPhone 15 to determine how many charges each battery offers these devices. We chose a common smaller battery phone as well as our best phone overall for this purpose. When we test a power bank, we look at the usable energy you get from it and divide it by its capacity. This is what we call energy conversion efficiency.

You need fast power: This is a very slow charger, whether wired or wireless, so it's better for casual charging while you sip your water and read a book. These displays work similarly to an LCD screen but use LED technology to provide numerical or alphanumeric information about the charge level, usually in terms of a percentage. You don't have a magnetic phone: You don't need an iPhone to enjoy the magnetic charging, but you'll need a case that lines up your phone with Apple's MagSafe wireless configuration, or else your phone won't charge properly. A small display screen keeps the user informed on outgoing wattage, remaining battery life, and more. It’s far more informative than the standard series of indicator lights that most small power banks have. As an outro, I wanted to point out that LEDs are not the only option when it comes to power banks. In fact, they’re the most prevalent solution out there because it’s the cheapest and simplest one to create. So the majority of the manufacturers go with this one out of commodity. But there are other options out there as well, which I would recommend over the classic LED lights. LCD Display Power BanksThe Anker Prime series of Power Banks, including the Anker Prime 27,650mAh Power Bank (250W) and the Anker Prime 20,000mAh Power Bank (200W), are for people who truly love to geek out on power banks. If you came looking for the absolute best power bank you can buy, this is the best we've tried. In 2023, nearly every gadget and gizmo that we use has a battery. Our phones are the primary example, but nearly everything — from headlamps to headphones — has built-in rechargeable batteries. You don't need all those extras: The Anker Prime power bank is pricey, and if you don't care about monitoring charge Wattage or days of battery life, find another option. If you have a newer Android phone, or the latest iPhone 15 models, you'll want a power bank with faster charging speeds to get your battery full faster. Charging speed is measured in wattage, and the iPhone 15 can charge just a bit faster than 15W, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra can charge up to 45W.
