I enjoyed the parts where he shares anecdotes from his career or talks about his life more than the self help stuff. From romantic misadventures to family fiascos and workplace woefulness, this book has turned me into a living punchline. Written to take advantage of the brief window between the end of lockdown and Jimmy getting cancelled for saying something unforgivable to Lorraine Kelly, this book is as timely as it is unnecessary. To be honest they’re so rapid, it was sometimes difficult to reflect on them all and you might be too busy laughing.

I know that is more or less the description advertised but nevertheless I wasn’t expecting so much of the preaching. Fake it – pretending to be a better person than being a bad person or indistinguishable to the casual observer. I loved the fact that he mentions these are mostly first world problems, in the third world people would burn this book either to keep warm or so that the thought-police wouldn't catch them reading it.I ‘discovered’ Irish comedian Jimmy Carr when I stumbled upon the panel show ‘8 Out of 10 Cats’ on YouTube only a year or two ago. It is as funny as expected, surprisingly thought provoking and peppered with short anecdotes that most may have never heard before. Alas, my family took my dramatic readings as a cry for help, leading to an impromptu intervention where I became the unintentional star of my own tragicomedy.
