About this deal

Our exclusive Tractrix ® Horn Technology and aluminum tweeters deliver the most impressive high-end response and greater extension, enhanced imaging and powerful dynamics. Although my aim for a one-size-fits-all volume setting was lower than a motorhead might prefer, the center speaker wouldn’t let me miss a word of dialogue. When we reviewed the Quintet, it was available with a 12- or 10-inch subwoofer, sold separately from the satellites.

We've taken the premium materials and acoustic technology of our coveted Reference Series and designed a beautiful 5. The horn-loaded tweeters made them almost too colorful; when perspective shifted within a scene, the transition was dramatic. Although the Quintet review was years ago, I’ve never forgotten knuckle-rapping the Quintet cabinet; it sounded and felt like stone. However, my respect for its nimbleness at frequencies just below the sat-friendly sub crossover slowly but surely increased over time. And at 120 Hz, the hole between 120 and 200 Hz isolated the sub and omitted a big slice of upper bass. The idea behind Klipsch's Reference Theatre Pack is simple: bringing the US speaker brand's house sound, beloved by owners of its floorstanding models, to those with small rooms/budgets. After reading a bunch of surround sound installation reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about making everything work. The Reference Theater Pack delivers superior acoustic performance by leveraging Injection Molded Graphite (IMG) woofers.

One thing the venue and the satellites had in common was excellent low-level resolution, which meant that soft-voiced passages didn’t vanish into the ether.Consider me a total noob at everything and someone whos on a budget, hence why I'm going with the Reference Theater Pack. I have always been a Klipsch fan since hearing their speakers, and am very glad to have this system for my man cave. As a result of this and other changes, though a quarter-inch taller, the Pack Sat weighs less than half as much as the old Quintet sat. To complement the easy placement of the wireless subwoofer, each satellite speaker has a keyhole mount and a ¼” x 20 threaded insert (the center channel has dual keyhole / inserts) for maximum mounting flexibility. This Blu-ray's surround mix is one of the best we've heard from a music program in a long time, and the Klipsch Performance Pack only made us appreciate it more.

We used a Sony STR-DN1080 AV receiver and an Oppo UDP 205 Blu-ray player for all of our listening tests. My fear going in was that this could influence the sound, adding cabinet-induced colorations for starters. The Sib sats may not be very big, but they are considerably larger than the wee Klipsch sats, and the difference was audible. Many of its full-size speakers flaunt a no-nonsense design, with more right angles than a Rubik's Cube convention, but these satellites are cut from softer cloth. With it sat against my front wall, and a slim-line Marantz NR1710 AV receiver on processing and power duty (with a 100Hz rather than 80Hz crossover, as the satellites are rated down to around 110Hz), I was up and running. The Klipsch Reference Theater Pack is the company’s sixth-generation sat/sub system, succeeding the Quintet, which we tested back in 2013. Also had to adjust the sound synchronization to match the person's lips; but once that was done, it applied to all inputs and could be left alone. In an actual listening room, you'd find that some speakers play louder than others when fed the same amount of power. I'm also looking to get the Klipsch R620F or R820F and use them as my front floor L+R speakers, then use two of the satellite speakers for a Dolby Atmos setup. Complete with a wireless subwoofer, the Reference Theater Pack brings the Klipsch cinematic sound into your home with an incredibly minimal footprint.
