About this deal

A solid collection of short horror stories from a master artist that will leave you squirming with its gore and body horror. In “Face Thief” there’s some difficulty telling characters apart, but then it becomes clear this is the point of the plot, as a character is literally able to steal other people’s faces. There's a World of books to choose from such as: Children's Books, Range includes Baby Books (0-3), Books for Toddlers (3-5), Early Readers (5-7), Childrens Story books (7-11), Young Teens (11-14), Young Adults (14-16) and Childrens Educational Books. This anticipation was not misplaced, as I am happy to report that this was a very solid collection of strange and unsettling tales.

I’ve mentioned before that I’ve become a little lukewarm on Ito’s work as a whole, while still loving some of his major works. For a complete list of books Kris has read, as well as shorter less eloquent reviews, check Kris’ goodreads out. Deserter was a creepy collection of short stories and I really found myself enjoying every single one.

But then there’s ones like “The Reanimator’s Sword” which seems interesting at first, but then it devolves into an immortal chosen one style of story.

I still enjoyed it just fine, but his line work was a lot more rough around the edges and his penchant for smaller details was absent in some cases. I’ve seen so many people complaining about this being work from his earlier days, but I loved these stories. Adera has never forgiven him for this, believing that keeping him in the house is the only way to avenge Kimie. A vengeful family hides an army deserter for eight years after the end of World War II, cocooning him in a false reality where the war never ended. She hasn't left the village since a traumatic stay in London as a young woman at the end of the 1980s.Nevertheless, upon graduation he trained as a dental technician, and until the early 1990s he juggled his dental career with his increasingly successful hobby — even after being selected as the winner of the prestigious Umezu prize for horror manga.
