I often wonder…if I’d grown up with a warning like those the humans are given, would I have gone through with the bargain three years ago? Would my grief and guilt still have been so overwhelming that I would have neglected to pause long enough to see the truth? The lie? The deception? GAH! I love this series so much. Cannot recommend it enough. The narration was flawless. I love that we got some of Franco's chapters, and I found myself looking forward to those the most. Both narrators did a fantastic job emulating the personalities of each character. Fake dating, enemies to lovers, forced proximity and secret identity??? I mean what more can you want?? It’s literally the perfect combination and the execution did NOT disappoint whatsoever! What I didn't like: the stepfamily and the guy from the human church (you know villains are well-written when you hate them lmao). Can Ember and Franco find love when the masks come off? Or will illusions and lies prove stronger than their hearts?

In fact, you should take a room at the palace all month. You can even set up shop. You’ll get loads of business, as I plan on making all the dances glamoured occasions. You know everyone wants their next glamour to be even more dazzling than the last.” Her footsteps approach the dressing screen but—thankfully—stop on the other side. If she sees the state I’m in, she’ll know I’ve been outdoors. “What excuse do you have today?”

Definitely a softer read than I would’ve expected, but it was a read that brought me happy surprises and while there is steam it is very mild and mostly emotional more than anything else. this series of retellings is becoming my favorite. Happy reading! Five stars!
The romance was just so freaking good and I can’t describe it other than perfect! It had everything in it! Banter, tension, pining, sososososo much chemistry, cute and adorable moments, a deep connection between the characters and a perfect outcome!! This was a great Cinderella retelling, set in the same world as The Fair Isle Trilogy, the action happening 21 years later. It's part of Entangled with Fae, a series of stand-alones with crossovers between characters and happy endings. My favorite part was obviously the chance to see Franco (whom we've met in the second book of the Fair Isle trilogy) getting his happy ending, since he was one of the characters I liked the most. And don’t get me started on the chemistry these two have!! It’s so freaking well written and I loved the pacing of it! It wasn’t too abrupt nor too slow. It was just perfect (at least imo). Heart of the Raven Prince has an even slower, slow burn but with all the deception and intrigue the slow burn is valid and makes sense for the story and characters. Did that mean I was not yelling at them in my head? No, but it does mean the story felt real and the romance and love story, natural. If I wouldn’t have already been in love with Franco, this book would have taken care of that. He was sweet, funny and caring, while also being really sensitive and vulnerable in a way not many male MCs are portrayed. He was such a powerful and impressive Fae that no one really tried to see beneath the facade he had created and I think it was wonderful to see how much emotion he actually had and how big his heart was. Fine, but going nowhere,” Mrs. Coleman snaps. “Neither you nor Imogen managed to secure a husband yet again. We’ve attended every court’s social season, one after the other, for three years in a row, and still, my daughters fail me.” The beginning of this story was a bit agonizing, as most Cinderella retellings are. I wish Ember had had just one friend or one positive relationship so it wouldn't have been so depressing. It also took a bit longer to get to the main plot - the fake relationship - than I would've liked. this was a cute little retelling of cinderella.

Not only is the hat hideous—a monstrosity of floral-patterned linen and nothing like the pretty bonnets that were fashionable twenty years ago—but it is also enormous. Perfect for keeping my face in shadow while making me look utterly ridiculous. Overall, I really really enjoyed this book! This was one of the best fairy tale retellings I’ve ever read so far and I’m definitely not exaggerating! I suppress a groan at the suggestion of yet another scheme to marry Imogen to fae royalty. Prince Franco is the brother and heir of Queen Nyxia, the Unseelie Queen of Lunar, and he is just as unlikely to fall for Imogen’s nonexistent charms as every other royal she’s tried to woo.
