Surprisingly, the GPD XP is reported to be compatible with 4G SIM cards. Calling and SMS features are apparently disabled, meaning that the SIM card is used for data alone. Many people will be buying the GPD XD 2 to play old games, but it will also have WiFi connectivity so that you can hook up to the web to play Fortnite and PUBG. To be honest though, the XD Plus didn’t do this very well, which was again down to the OS not pulling its weight.It can even emulate the Gamecube with some games running at a solid full frame rate. Thanks to Vulkan API support the emulators run more efficiently and as a result you get better speeds on your emulator and can play games as they were intended. battery life is awesome and now i look forward to places where i have long wait times as i can bust this bad boy out and just while away the time. We’re big fans of the shape of the console and it emulates many games perfectly, giving retro gaming fans a chance to relive some of their favourite titles at home and on the go. But, having said that, there were and still are some major firmware issues, and the Android software the console uses is now way outdated. On paper and in practice, the XD Plus worked very well but felt a little underwhelming. This handheld should have been a game-changer, but to this day it still has that marmite ‘love-hate’ factor. The ultimate emulation machine, the GPD XD is undeniably pricey but is a wise investment if you’re keen on vintage gaming.
