About this deal

Both the styling clay and the shaping dough are true to the saying ‘less is more’, making them fantastic value for money. Both are worked into damp or dry hair by applying just a small amount to the palms and swerve that unfashionably nineties wet-look that hair gel can create. Both products also have a pleasant smell. The styling clay in particular has the ‘sand, sea, surf, suncream’ scent you might expect from an Australian export. At the moment I have a side parting and thought this product would work well. Each time I used the clay, I noticed that that my hair was slipping out of place after a few hours.

This product has a softer, more pliable consistency and I wasn’t convinced it was going to work. How wrong I was! Applied on my head first thing in the morning, there wasn’t a hair out of place in the evening. I was given the opportunity to test two of its hair care products; shaping dough and gritty styling clay. I hadn’t tested two such similar products at the same time before so was very interested to see how they would compare. I should also point out that these are just two products from the range as there are several. Gold’ is a woody, slightly spicy scent. It has a warmth and a familiarly to it, despite me never having smelt it before. It’s pleasant and it lasts well. Just a splash will do. It’s also inexpensive, especially in the fragrance market. If you’re only looking to keep small amounts of hair in place then this is probably the product for you. For more serious styling, I’d consider something else. This was the first product I tried and I used it a few times. I’d used similar products in the past and had high hopes for it.Gold’ aftershave splash isn’t the kind of product I’d usually go for, for my 40-something other half and perhaps the fact that it was first launched in 1976 when he’d be yet to turn one, speaks volumes in to whom this fragrance might appeal. Gold’ is a ‘heritage’ scent and is the kind of aftershave Dads may have indeed worn in the 70s. I’ve heard that such retro fragrances are being made fashionable by those a little younger than me and my other half, in a revival of trends; I guess in the same way that I’ve worn flares despite growing up a decade or so after their first appearance. Fashion is a funny thing. Moosehead is an Australian brand. It specialises in hair styling products but it also produces a face wash plus deodorant (although the deodorant is only available in the UK market). Moosehead gritty styling clay and shaping dough. All the way from down under.

Moosehead Shaping Dough 100g | Mens | Superdrug

This dough is easy to work right into the hair and so it kept my hair in place very well. You don’t have to use a great deal of it to be effective so it’s not going to be hard on the wallet either.Whilst I had my partner on board for a spot of product testing, I thought I’d get his opinion on a man’s fragrance I’d agreed to review.
