About this deal

The Space Marine Legions of the First Founding make up the core factions and conflict of the Horus Heresy. In this article, our sixteenth dive into the pre-Heresy archives, we wade through an ocean of blood to find out more about the mighty XII – the World Eaters.

Alongside plenty of new lore advancing the storyline, this book contains further rules for the Boarding Actions, including unique upgrades for Space Marines, Chaos Space Marines, World Eaters, Grey Knights, Astra Militarum, and Orks Boarding Patrols. As bosses go, Angron wasn’t ideal – for starters, he slaughtered a bunch of his own men in a fit of pique just after being press-ganged. Only Eighth Captain Khârn managed to form a friendship of sorts with him.*** He even demanded that his best Apothecaries and Techmarines reverse-engineer the Butcher’s Nails, pushing the Legion’s pain tolerance and lust for violence even further. The War Hounds found themselves oddly under-utilised in the latter stages of the Unification Wars, and the early steps to take the Sol System. Why the Emperor wouldn’t let loose his hounds is unclear, but he kept the XII in a state of constant readiness and training, with only sparing engagements. After one of these rare early battles, the bloody pacification of the Cephic Hives, the legion took a red hound for their war-badge. The World Eaters Lord on Juggernaut can run around on his own, enjoying a 10″ movement speed. He can also join units of Eightbound, Exalted Eightbound, and Khorne Berzerkers as a leader. His ‘Aggressive Advance’ grants his bodyguard re-rolls on Advance rolls, Charge rolls, and Blood Surge rolls, while he’ll gain the benefit of any movement abilities his unit might have. This might look random, but the maths is actually quite reliable. When rolling eight dice you’re guaranteed at least two doubles or one triple in every roll,so you have pretty reliable access to three buffs: ‘Rage-fuelled Invigoration’ for +2” movement speed, ‘Wrathful Devotion’ for Feel No Pain 6+, and ‘Total Carnage’,which gives your models a chance to lash out and fight when they’re slain in melee. With the release of 10th edition now firmly behind us and more than a month of competitive games in the books it’s time to start taking a deeper look at each of the game’s factions. In this series we’ll talk about each faction, what they have to offer, how they play, and talk about a few list concepts to consider. World Eaters are pretty simple – there aren’t a ton of combos you have to build around, because most of your combos are pretty obvious, and just involve “a unit that is extra good at killing things in melee.” Still, let’s go through a few notable rules combinations. Long Charges In many ways these subfactions were the model for the Detachment system we see in 10th edition; each subfaction had its own stratagems and relics which did not overlap. We expect the Disciples of the Red Angel to return as a World Eaters Detachment in due course for 10th edition.

The benefits are Forlorn Hope , which give all Legiones Astartes (World Eaters) the Feel No Pain (5+) special rule while in the enemy deployment zone, and improving existing Feel No Pain by +1 to a maximum of 3+. The World Eaters don’t have that many datasheets, and even among the ones they have there are a couple you’re just never going to take because they’re more about shooting than fighting, so that makes them one of the armies for which it’s possible to talk about every single datasheet. So let’s go ahead and do that. Angron Angron is insane, and he will be an absolute beast on the field, without a doubt. Plus, that model is everything we hoped it would be! In 10th edition there are very few restrictions on how you build armies, and two World Eaters Combat Patrols would make an excellent, if infantry-heavy, start to your force.Show off your commitment and learn the new rules faster with these dice and cards. Balefleet Battleforce Double 3+: Martial Excellence – Models in this unit have the [SUSTAINED HITS 1] ability on their melee weapons. Caedere Weapons – These are unusual, cyber-augmetic gladiator weaponry which require years of training to master, and only elite World Eaters know how to use. On the tabletop, there are a range of different kinds of Caedere weapon, all of which have their own individual specialism. All of these can be taken by Independent Characters or Characters for +15 pts

The Forgefiend gives you an 8”, T10, 12W daemon engine walker which comes with either two ectoplasma cannons or two hades autocannons, plus you’ll give it a mouth gun to give it 50% more firepower. The Ectoplasma guns are the better option here, giving you D3 [BLAST] S10 AP-3 3 damage shots that give you a better shot at damaging vehicles than the S8 hades Autocannon. The World Eaters were the twelfth legion of Space Marines created by the Emperor of Mankind in the 31st millennium. Their Primarch Angron was raised a slave in the gladiatorial pits of Nuceria. Although a formidable warrior, his mind was forever altered by a brutal pain engine installed into his nervous system by his cruel owners, an agonising device that could only be assuaged when slaughtering foes in hand to hand combat. Angron ultimately led a slave revolt against his masters, and would have died fighting side by side with his fellow slaves had the Emperor not intervened, whisking him away. The World Eaters ninth edition codex had rules for two distinct sub-factions, the main World Eaters and the Disciples of the Red Angel. This force consisted entirely of Angron, daemons, and Land Raiders for them to ride around in.

Overall, extremely underwhelming. He is supposed to fight in Challenges, but to be honest, he might well be killed by a basic Artificer/Power Fist Sergeant. 3+, no invuln, and a Chainaxe? Hard pass. Flood the battlefield with Khorne Berzerkers, the raging foot soldiers of the World Eaters legion. This unit of 10 Berzerkers is a close combat powerhouse, the perfect core for any World Eaters army.Of course it’s eight dice. So what exactly do you do with these rolls? If you guessed “spend them to upgrade your army with potent effects chosen from a list of six powerful abilities”, you’re right on the money. A furious warcry to accompany your choice is recommended, but not mandatory.
