About this deal

Due to limited space, a hiker or survivalist will usually opt for something with a shorter handle but at 14 inches, it’s not a bad option. Originally, I thought the X11 was going to be a no brainer – but after a summer of testing I found I kept wanting to use the X7. The Fiskars X21 axe is ideal for splitting logs of up to 30 cm and above and is a great all-rounder that can handle most heavy-duty chopping tasks. The head is the same width as the X17 above, which means this axe can be used for more detailed woodwork and smaller chopping tasks. Then again, a wooden handle won’t withstand a fire either. Anyway, if you’re interested in seeing how well the handle holds up to a campfire, let me know in the comment section below. Versatility

The X7 blade can be sharpened like a regular axe using sandpaper, files, or an electric tool. Fiskars offer a special sharpener that helps maintain the tool’s correct blade profile. What is the best alternative to the Fiskars X7? The hatchet from Prandi is another remarkable buy in terms of quality and price. It’s similar in comparison to the Husqvarna but it has a different head pattern and it costs a little more. The X25 axe blade isn’t perfect. Compared to more expensive hatchets it has its blemishes and its cutting edge won’t offer the same level of sharpness. But for the price, it offers excellent value for money. This hatchet is a great entry level hatchet for anyone, in my opinion. It’s probably not going to last you forever. The head of the hatchet is low quality and, as I said, you can’t replace the handle if it breaks; at least not that I know of. Anyway, it’s great for occasional camping, hiking, or yard work. And, I’ll say it again, if you’re not concerned about the money at all, the Gransfors Bruk wildlife hatchet is perfect for you. It’s something you can use your whole life and pass it on to your kids.

So, when comparing this hatchet to the Husqvarna hatchet, the only difference I can see, aside from the head pattern, is a small difference in price. Fiskars Axe Comparison (all models) Fiskars large splitting axes Fiskars X27 is the most popular splitter

Designed in Billnas, Finland, building on more than three-and-a-half centuries of the world's best forged tools It also has a hollow handle. I suspect the main reason why the handle is hollow is to reduce the overall weight. Whether intentional or not, it works quite well as storage. A trip to their official YouTube channel showed me their axes are drop-forged by hand. I’m not entirely sure if this is true for all their tools but I’ll do some more digging later to find out for sure.

Fiskars is a great choice If you need a kindling hatchet for the homestead, cottage, or camping. But Fiskars offers many options, and it’s not always clear what the best choice is. My guess is that you’re in a similar situation. In this case, the Fiskars X7 works exceedingly well for the price. Sure, you might spend more time getting it razor-sharp but all around, it’s not a bad little hatchet. DurabilityThe Fiskars X7 axe is a well-built tool that offers excellent value for money. It’s light, easy to swing, and is built from materials that won’t break easily. The tough 14-inch nylon handle is long enough to get leverage and act as a pry bar If you take on a piece of wood that is a little too big or has twisted grain. It won’t be damaged. There is typically a range of axes that could fit into any role, and it’s up to you what the right tradeoff is. Length Prandi is an Italian company that produces high-quality tools; this hatchet is no exception. In terms of value per dollar spent, this is one of the best hatchets on the market. In most cases, however, it will probably be laying flat on the ground when you run it over. Well, in my test, I slanted the hatchet up against an old piece of cement. Next? Yep, I parked my vehicle on it.
