About this deal

She looked incredibly cute, was very though, but became all girly and fiddly when her crush was around! The Chichi Dragon Ball Z Cosplay is perfect for all young girls who don't let themselves be walked on.

I remember struggling so much with it, while it's actually a joke compared to a lot of other costumes I've made. I had quite a hard time finding the right shade of dark blue, but I'm pretty content with how this color turned out!

Chi-Chi's hairstyle is a variation of a hime-cut, which I already cut multiple times, but I wanted to make this one a bit more special. I'm completely not used to cosplaying cute and shy characters, but what helped was that I was also not 100% comfortable in such a bare costume, even though I was wearing a bodysuit.

How long the drying process takes depends on the weather, but on a general (quite cold) day in the Netherlands this can take a full day. View spoiler Hide spoiler You can see some leftovers on the cardboard for my earlier painted Smileys masks www. Even though the cape and top are seperate parts, I decided that construction-wise it was better to cheat and put them together. I always start out with a paper prototype and if that prototype works out well, I make patterns from them. I haven't watched Kill La Kill (yet), but I don't see myself doing one of those super-bare transformed outfits if that was what you were trying to say, lol!Instead of following rules, I'm more the type to test out and adjust parts while I'm making them (only when I know what I'm doing, with the helmet above I used a tutorial).

To be honest, I couldn't really point out in the design what these were, so I ended up just making small covers to have the effect. I’ve considered writing up a glove tutorial eventually since I wanted to toss one together for Sora’s (since a tutorial for that is non-existent) XD I’ve come across a few here and there. In Chi-Chi's character design most of her hair pieces are quite "square" and I decided I wanted to literally recreate this effect. I also met up with a Roshi at the same convention and he was so completely in-character I couldn't stop laughing.I got a lot of questions from people asking how I the shoulderplates stay in place because there is nothing it attaches to. If I would re-do this part, I would have made the seamline less obvious, but I'm still quite happy with how this turned out! Seriously, industry-professionals having a Youtube channel that they use to show how they make their amazing stuff are the best!

Lots of people wanted to make pictures of us when we were talking and he even had a "master Roshi approves of this" sign with him. View spoiler Hide spoiler I just re-measure myself every once in a while to see if I didn't get a lot fatter or thinner and see if the mannequin is still good. People weren't necessarily impressed with the costume or act, but they said it was really nice to see an "old" design character, considering most cosplay competitions here nowadays are filled with people in big fantasy armors in likewise styles (not that there is anything wrong with that, but you see a lot of likewise outfits in a competition over here). Even though I didn't like the fit around my fingers, I was quite content with how I made the outer shape (I used a likewise method as how I made the boots covers). So the process you see here happens with at least 3 layers and most of them have to be undercoated in 2-4 different positions so everything can dry well. View spoiler Hide spoiler Sorry for the blurry picture of the shoulderplates, but with work-in-progress if my pictures turn out bad, I can never re-make them because I'm already at the next step!
