About this deal

His 'only I can hurt you' is so toxic, and he's the biggest red flag, but at this point, I'm not even bothering to be blind. I was sucked in right away and not only enjoyed the mystery aspect of this but also loved seeing the characters develop as they are forced to deal with the situation. It definitely had the darker themes, but I’d say it wasn’t too overwhelming for a reader who wasn’t sure and merely wanted to dip their toes into before taking the plunge. Something about the smell of the sea always soothes my tortured lungs, whether it’s because I’m abusing them with a panic attack or cigarette smoke. But everything else kind of drags…the mystery of the island, the intentions of the old man named Sylvester, the sounds they hear at night, everything else gets the slowburn treatment…If not for the spice and the assholeness we see of Enzo, I’d probably have been really bored with this book in all honesty.

In fact, this book is one I’d say is a great bridge into the darker themed romances this author and plenty of others are known for. The lighthouse and the island were very vivid in my head, her pacing was just right for all scenes and all interactions the couple shared with the old man and she was very successful in dosing the island's history. Yeah,” I say, nodding my head, deciding the idea of a stranger giving me a tattoo at a bus stop is too good to pass up. K. Websters take on 'thrilling dark romances' and this entire mystery-murder, thriller, gothic part of the plot did not impress me whatsoever. with really creepy rules they have to follow until the next supply ship comes to the island in a month.I loved the plot, the story, the characters and how imperfect they are and of course, the writing style and the flow of the book. He’s out for revenge, but it backfires as they are shipwrecked on an island with a dangerous lighthouse keeper who has a terrible secret. In conclusion, we both know that you will not enjoy this, probably die of boredom or at least lose years of your life, and give it a one star rating at most.

I initially was thrilled for a stranded at a lighthouse plot, but became immediately disappointed with the direction and execution of the lighthouse owner. This was definitely a mystery/suspense/thriller type of story with even a few horror-like elements thrown in too in a few spots, and it made the perfect setting for some of the darker themes explored in this story. Living out of a van is more ideal than a hotel, and I got incredibly lucky to find one for much cheaper than it’s worth. I know sex sells, but there is such a thing as overkill, and this book definitely fits that bill; and how on earth two people can be continually attracted to one another when they have a bone-deep hatred and are terribly mean to each other, is beyond me.The story takes a new turn about a quarter of the way into the book and becomes a survival story filled with darkness and mystery.

And let me tell you he is a professional with sharks and he did THIS because she stole his identity after they had a one-night stand. Some sex, traumatized characters, murder, twists, creepy lighthouse steward, ghosts, hidden away captive…it’s a lot aka dramatic AF.When he finds out, he tricks her onto a boat and takes her to see sharks so he can scare her into a confession. My cheeks hurt from how widely they’re being stretched, but just like every time that needle poked through my skin, the pain feels good. The bus is approaching, so we’ll miss our ride, but another bus will show up in thirty minutes—plenty of time to get my first tattoo.
