About this deal

Bought this for exclusive use in a new table saw router table extension. The built-in lifter was a primary reason I selected this one and it is a nice feature. Nice powerful machine. Have not tried to push to its limits with very large bits but certainly works great with bits up to 1". A few convenience things could be improved to make it more of a perfect machine. It has been three years since my original review for this router (under the name FirstMM) - it is safe to say that the honeymoon period is definitely over on this tool! The Power is also enough for anything you can put in a router, there it's no limitation in this machine there. The only thing I don't like about the new router is the new collet design. To change the size of the router shank it is necessay to change the whole assembly instead of just the collet insert. I find this an unnecessary complication, especially when working on the table using a narrow throated insert. In this circumstance it is quite difficult to get the collet nut through the table enough to change it or to insert a new cutter. For me, the old system worked very well - so why was it necessay to change it?

The ONLY downside that I can think of with this machine is the cost - it IS expensive. That said I cannot recommend it highly enough for more reasons than mentioned above. It saves me a lot of time, especially since I just have one router for off hand use and use with this table. Attaching and detaching the Triton router is simple and straightforward.

Triton TRA001 2400W Dual Mode Precision Plunge Router 240v

The Triton TRA001 lives up to its reputation in both hand held and router bench modes. The soft start and variable speed adjustment provides greater control while delivering the power to cleanly cut through hardwoods. I also use it as a plunge router, the Engine works smoth, start softly even if it is 2400w, thats good. The balace in the router is a Little bit high so it is easier to hold one hand on the router base to keep it down to the Surface, But I found my technique to use it in a good way. This is not a problem and I will also use it 90% in my router table. This router was bought specifically for my homemade table because of the lifter handle, speed control for large bits & the ability to change bits from above... Every now and again I buy something that I simply cannot find a fault with and this is one of those items.

I chose this router because I was putting together a new router table. I really wanted to ease the challenge of adjusting the cutter height so it could be done either from above or from the side, and the choice seemed to be either a router lift (very expensive) or this router. There are few alternatives out there that offer the above-table adjustment that this does. I chose this, and I don't regret it. Above-table bit-change is easy. It's very powerful. Dust extraction from the machine is pretty good too, and far better than I've managed before. My only gripe is that access to the switch is required to enable you to raise the bit enough to change the cutter, and that restricts table design. The bottom line is an attractive one, though. It's a powerful, precise machine that delivers well on many axes. And it's exceptionally cost effective. For the money, there's really nothing else that is even close. In a table, I think you have to spend much more than twice as much to get any increment at all. I'm delighted with the choice I made, and recommend it strongly for a table. After several years of work carried out with the use of milling machines of other brands, I decided to buy this product for its versatility and power of the engine. I have had my Triton for a good while now and it works flawlessly. I bought it specifically for use in a router table and I especially like the fact that no lift is required to lift the router above the table for bit changes and adjustments. A great feature and a serious cost savings. Functionally this does everything you could ask of it from rounding over, slotting, edge planing, etc. There are also extras you can buy, like the finger jointing jig, that work well (albeit being a little fiddly to set up but this is the case with box jigs).Plus, being worried that I didn't have the aptitude to repair the unit myself, another call to tech support eased my mind, and the tech walked me through every step of the process. If I had to change one thing it would be the point where the cable exit the machine to slightly lower point. Adding some hear protection in the box would be a bonus. I bought this tool a month ago... I have to admit I was slightly intimidated by this router as it is the most powerful I used so far; but I found it easy and safe to use. Its features are super useful and far from being gadgets! It is also a Dual Mode Router as you can either use it as a normal plunge one or you can also table mount it AND it comes with a winder handle to adjust the height/depth of the router bit whence used as a table mounted one! Using the table in combination with an Triton router is a breeze. It's easy to adjust the table, attach dust extraction, and set the height of the router. I found no drift whatsoever when using it.

I'm now using this TRA001 router in combination with the RTA300 precision router table and the BJA300 biscuit joiner. I only wish I'd bought it earlier! Side air vents reduce intake of dust into the motor casing when mounted upside-down in a router table I was looking for an additional router to hang permanently in the table and this looked the ideal unit as it offered some exceptional features which i’ll List. Even for me as a hobby carpenter, this router is worth their money and I will not give them anymore. So if you want to buy a great router, you should definitely look around at Triton - it's worth it. And if all Triton machines are so good, I'm sure I'll get one or the other part over time.I bought the set as they were on offer with a substantial discount - table, router table, table saw and a nice new router; I think I effectively got the router module for nothing! Yandles were far cheaper than anywhere else. different ways to adjust the height of the cutter/router so that you can be super accurate in an easy manner! The sensibly sized fence/baseplate makes it very stable for edging and I have made an extra handle that attaches in the fence slot. Extraction is very efficient and pipe attachment is easy and convieniently positioned. A year ago I was using a homemade router table, with a cheap router. I had to partially strip the router to insert my homemade lift system. Eventually the router broke because it was taken apart too many times (and the quality wasn't up to par). I was fed up with this, and so I decided to invest in some decent equipment.

I also love the plunge system: it makes life easy when doing off hand work, and when mounted in the router table. Machine is reasonably quiet and runs smooth, no play in shaft. The housing is a combination of fibre enforced strong engineered plastic and aluminium. It is well made and finished which is good.Full disclosure: I did have to return my router but I have a lot of experience with tools and I think I just got one of the ones with some issues that weren't caught by QC.
