About this deal

Before we get to the gaming tests, here's a brief look at power consumption. The 5600G did consume slightly more power than the 5600X in this test despite being 6% slower. But when compared to the Intel competition, it was considerably more power efficient, especially against the 11600K. We test CPUs using a variety of synthetic benchmarks that offer proprietary scores, as well as real-world tests using consumer apps like 7-Zip, and 3D games such as Far Cry 5 and Rainbow Six: Siege. Included in the charts below is a variety of like-priced competing and sibling AMD and Intel CPUs. CPU-Centric Tests It also means when CPU bound the 5600G was on average 14% slower than the 5600X, which is a reasonably large margin. Of course it's well worth noting that for the majority of gamers, and hardware configurations, the performance difference between these two CPUs is going to be very small as you'll almost always end up GPU limited. You're looking at twice the performance with an old GTX 1060 3GB, or slightly more in this example. At least the AMD iGPUs ran this game, the Core i7-11700 kept crashing out when I tried to load into a level. With the right selection of games though, the 5600G can look quite good – games like CS:GO, League of Legends, Dota 2, Fortnite and F1 2020, for example. So as long as you go into this with the right expectations, gaming can be enjoyable with the 5600G standalone.

Finally, we come to the bread and butter of Ryzen's G line of chips over the past few years: integrated graphics performance. In this arena, AMD has proven it has no equal, and Intel's closest competition to the Ryzen 5 5600G, the Core i5-11600K, is regularly doubled here in performance by both the 5600G and 5700G chips. And while the Ryzen 7 5700G does generally outpace the Ryzen 5 5600G by a decent margin, it's not so substantial that anyone except people running benchmarks would notice under most circumstances.

A Brief Look at Overclocking and Thermals

The 11700K and 11600K with UHD Graphics 750 struggleat both 1280x720 and 1080p, netting roughly half the performance of a properly configured Ryzen 7 5700G system. The Core i5-11400 fares even worse; its UHD Graphics 730 engine only comes with 24 EUs. Intel has made strides compared to the UHD Graphics 630 engine in the 10600K, which also comes with 24 EUs, but the best Intel chips still trail AMD's three-year-old Ryzen 5 3400G 'Picasso' chips by significant margins. Buying a desktop PC from PCSpecialist means we can do all the upgrades to your computer for you! Stay up-to-date with the latest components and new hardware for your desktop PC without the hassle of doing the upgrades yourself. Buy your new computer today using our Intel & AMD PC configurators. You can easily upgrade memory capacity and storage in these HP Pavilion pre-builts, but that’s about it. For the addition of discrete GPU, it’ll take more work and money. Mini PCs on the other hand could be the solution you need if you require increased computing performance but don’t have space for a full sized Desktop PC. Our Mini PC configurators have a variety of cases and components available to ensure the Mini PC you create is customised to meet your exact requirements.

The GPU shortage appears to be improving ever so slowly, thanks in part to the collapse of mining profitability and China shutting down mining firms, but we expect it to persist to some extent over the next several months. If the 5600G slots in well under its X-equipped counterpart, the Ryzen 5 5600X, it could be a tough chip to beat. However, that isn't an easy task given the tradeoffs associated with Cezanne's monolithic die design, which differs significantly from the chiplet-based Ryzen 5000 chips.

Then we want to see how well it works with the Vega iGPU, and for this we'll be comparing it against the Ryzen 5 3400G, Ryzen 7 5700G and Core i7-11700, all using integrated graphics. If space is an issue, you can alternatively choose from our wide range of All in One PCs & Mini PCs for compact computers that take up less desk space at home or in the office. We have carefully selected workstation computers specifically for specialist programs & Industries, so you can boost your computer’s processing and graphic performance to create, render and load without any limits. We understand how extensive performance-affecting workloads such as CAD, video rendering and virtual simulations can massively increase the performance demand on your desktop computer’s processor and graphics card. Our workstation computer configurators are tailored to help you customise your desktop PC to whatever your work requires. See our wide range of workstation computers built for intensive workloads. Even when testing with After Effects we find that the 5600G is ~9% slower than the 5600X and because this is a more lightly threaded application, the 5600G is comparable to the 5700G.

hrudy said:... AMD support doesn't care since it is Linux. For this level of incompatibility I might as well be running an ARM processor. And yes an AMD cpu without the GPU enabled works fine. I then ran into the second problem which is that even with a late Ubuntu distribution the AMD DRM gpu code didn't not want to install. I have never encountered this level of incompatibility since I've been using Linux which is around Y2k. Naturally AMD support doesn't care since it is Linux. For this level of incompatibility I might as well be running an ARM processor. Decompression performance is more impressive when compared to the Intel competition and this is due to AMD's SMT implementation working better, and as a result the 5600G was just 8% slower than Intel's previous generation 8-core Core i7-10700. Still, when compared to the 5600X, it was 10% slower which is disappointing. The Ryzen 5 5600G with 6 cores and 12 threads delivers blink of an eye processing even during the most strenuous of multitask operations. The 5600G fairs better in Rainbow Six Siege, not only did it allow for 464 fps on average but it was also just 9% slower than the 5600X, allowing it to beat all 10th and 11th-gen Core i5 processors.

If suggest only running a very recent kernel in hardware released at least 4 months before your OS release. CentOS stable is not that. Should run a recent Fedora instead. I'm not that up on rpm distros, preferring Debian based myself. I know there are a couple newer white box RedHat options though. Overall, the results are clear: If you're looking for the best integrated graphics on the desktop, Cezanne is the new leader for desktop PCs. Overall the Ryzen 5 5600G gives you the lion's share of the Ryzen 7 5700G's performance, but at a much more accessible price point. The previous-gen Ryzen 7 4750G is roughly 1% faster than the Ryzen 5 5600G at 1080p, marking one of the few times we'll see the more handsomely-equipped (at least in terms of CPU and GPU cores) previous-gen model take the lead over the 5600G, highlighting that the 5600G takes a big leap forward. In terms of specifications, it's pretty straightforward. The 5600G is a 6-core/12-thread part, though it retains the same 16MB L3 cache, which is half that of the 5600X. Then for the iGPU, the Vega graphics are downgraded from 8 CUs to 7, and the frequency has been reduced by 5%, down to 1.9 GHz, so overall we expect a ~10% drop in iGPU performance. Moving on to Horizon Zero Dawn, we find that the 5600G is comparable to the Core i5-10400F and not a great deal faster than the older Ryzen 7 3700X. When compared to the 5700G, it was just 3% slower and 9% slower than the 5600X.
