About this deal

And maybe it wouldn’t have been so many years if I hadn’t suspected they’d make me talk to her again, haha! If you are starting from scratch with little financial knowledge, this is a handy book to talk you through some basics and provides tips on what you can do to make wiser money decisions. A *very* useful guide for someone as financially illiterate as me, and a really great primer on all things money - pensions, investing, mortgages, taxes etc.

Claramente siempre va a tener algo de influencia el lugar de residencia del autor, pero en este caso me pareció que no llegaba a justificar la compra del libro, ni por las secciones que si podian llegar a aplicarse a mi situación viviendo en España. It explains student loans/savings/investing/mortgages/renting/pensions/debt/etc explained in a friendly, concise way. I already knew something about a lot of these topics, but Whateley's clear and casual writing style helped me understand them all even better. her experience as a journalist on the money desk for The Times, The Sunday Times and the Guardian allows her to do something that I'd never experienced she explains money clearly.I am in my late 30's, run a business and have always felt well informed when it comes to money, however I have learned so much from reading this book that it has quite literally changed the way I think on many money related issues. She also specialises in affordable travel, property, and interiors for The Times and has written for The Sunday Times, the Guardian, the Observer, Dow Jones and Moneywise magazine. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

To access your ebook(s) after purchasing, you can download the free Glose app or read instantly on your browser by logging into Glose. Further along in the book, the topic of spending comes up again, and Whateley explains how you can save money on your energy and other household bills.Fast forward some months and I’ve learnt a lot through reading books, attending events and joining Facebook groups. It caters to a UK audience, so it can be helpful for people hoping to start their career in England, Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland, but not for people from EU countries. All information found here, including any ideas, opinions, views, predictions expressed or implied herein, are for informational, entertainment or educational purposes only and do not constitute financial advice.

This essential book will give you the confidence and clarity to take back control of your bank account, enabling you to thrive in all areas of your life. Laura Whateley is an award-winning journalist and The Times ’ consumer champion writing the agony aunt column, ‘Troubleshooter’, and ‘Millennial Money’ in the Saturday Money section. After finishing the book I quite literally feel like I have just finished a year at college and passed the final exam with flying colours. To answer our reader’s question and, if you’re looking for a great personal finance and investing book for beginners, I suggest starting with Invest Your Way to Financial Freedom instead. I think I can speak for most when I say that any book that deconstructs all the financial jargon that is thrown at us must be a good read. Whilst I’m not 100% sure that I’m the target audience (I don’t have a much higher-than-average salary), I still appreciated that this book touched on the importance of finances in relationships, money and gender and money in relation to mental health. Take control of your personal finances with this concise, timely and indispensable guide, from acclaimed money expert Laura Whateley. While many in the FI community believe that this is suboptimal, Whateley is of the opposite conviction.
