About this deal

Ugh. Yes. Thank you. After trying out some different books and genres I am so glad that this book exists. It reminded me why I have a “type” of book I like reading. It was fun, flirty, emotional, hot and just made me feel good inside. At twenty-eight, Piper was not old. But she was one of the oldest women at this party. At every party she’d been to recently, come to think of it. Leaning on the glass railing that overlooked Melrose was an up-and-coming pop star who couldn’t be a day older than nineteen. She didn’t need tape from Milan to hold up her tits. They were light and springy with nipples that reminded Piper of the bottom of an ice cream cone. Fans of 'Schitt’s Creek' will love the premise of Bailey’s latest work... [a] sexy, drama-filled love story. 'It Happened One Summer' is another great beach read. Plus, laying out in the sun is a perfect excuse for the blush-inducing scenes scattered throughout."— USA Today This was Piper’s career. Partying. Being seen and holding up the occasional teeth-whitening product and getting a few dollars for it.

Bellinger Sisters Series by Tessa Bailey - Goodreads

How do friendships change over time? Why do some people remain friends forever, while others drift apart? It Happened One Summer by Tessa Bailey follows Piper Bellinger and Brendan Taggart. Piper got cut off financially from her stepdad in LA and was forced to move to a small town to learn how to be responsible and independent, her sister, Hannah, also decided to tag along. Brendan is a ‘bearded sea captain’ who resides in the small town, Westport, that Piper was forced to relocate to. The two didn’t hit it off immediately, almost an enemies to lovers vibe but not completely, but they both definitely found themselves sexually attracted to one another and had some underlying chemistry bubbling at the surface. I loved watching their relationship unravel. Although Brendan and Piper start of as enemies with him being hurtful, stereotypical, and somewhat cruel towards her. He is relentless in his quest to win over Piper, and it is evident that his initial actions are a result of the guilt he feels towards his attraction to her. This book allows young readers to connect with a character, Rose, whose mom experienced the depression that many moms experience at the loss of an unborn baby. I love that this author’s intent is to provide and easy-to-read, graphic, comic book style novel that can allow teens to feel a commonality when their family is experiencing something similar. This is my favourite book of the series. I preferred Piper and Brendan’s story to Hannah and Fox’s.Once in Westport, and no longer surrounded by the glitz and glamour of Hollywood or the misogynistic men in her life, Piper lets her guard down and we come to see she is bright, funny, passionate, and severely misunderstood. It was refreshing to experience Piper find her voice and really come into her own.

Though official casting choices haven't been made, Bailey previously revealed her dream cast for the movie. "For 'It Happened One Summer,' I have definite actors in mind for the four main characters (two of which will be featured in the second book, 'Hook Line & Sinker')," the "Getaway Girl" author told Authentic Books in an interview.

This One Summer presents a very realistic picture of how it feels to be on the cusp between childhood and adolescence, fascinated by older teens but not sure how to engage with them. The graphic novel presents opportunities to talk about such topics as teen sex, dealing with arguing parents, and maintaining friendships. Piper hasn’t even been in Westport for five minutes when she meets big, bearded sea captain Brendan, who thinks she won’t last a week outside of Beverly Hills. How bad could it really be? She’s determined to show her stepfather—and the hot, grumpy local—that she’s more than a pretty face.

In It Happened One Summer, we meet Piper Bellinger, an influential Hollywood-it girl with her wild child reputation. Piper is not only always appearing fashionable, instead, she also drinks and parties tirelessly. After all, her wealthy stepfamily always pampers her. Too bad, they turn out to be unsupportive of her.Yet, the same thing doesn’t apply in Tessa Bailey’s It Happened One Summer. Instead, we get to see the beautiful things that all states (New York, Los Angeles, the beach, and more) have to offer. The urban feels are there, and the romantic feels can paint an endless smile on our faces without having too many spicy details. From #1 New York Times bestselling author of It Happened One Summer comes a romantic comedy about an accidental relationship between three smitten men...and one commitment phobic woman. This book is funny, it’s a little angsty at times, a little spicy too, but oh will it have you swooning for your own sea captain. This is a book you can read over and over and enjoy it each and every time. For Piper, I can only see Annie Murphy. Piper will never be anyone else in my mind — that's just her. Hannah is Josephine Langford for me. Fox is Tyler Cameron of Bachelorette fame. Brendan is the hardest to cast because nobody really looks like the big, salty, seafaring man I have in my head. But I would love to see a bearded Tom Hardy play him," she continued.
