The iMicro Q was a pioneer in its field, offering a portable microscope with optical performance that could rival professional desktop microscopes. Its introduction marked a significant step forward in the democratization of scientific tools, making microscope technology more accessible to a wider audience. This trend continued with the introduction of the iMicro Q2 in 2020, which offered enhanced compatibility with any smartphone, further expanding the potential user base. This is certainly more of a macro lens than a microscope and while I personally don't have much use for it, I can see why it would be fun to play with. I feel like the phone I used with it really let it down so I would be interested to see how good it is using one of the best camera phones. I think the design could do with a bit of a rethink, I'm not a huge fan of the clip attachment and even though it has rubber on the screen side it seems like a recipe for getting a scratch. University research has jumped on the smartphone microscopy ship, too. In February 2018, researchers from Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia developed and fabricated a smartphone clip that could turn any smartphone into a microscope. The lens can get down to 1/200th of a millimeter and the whole apparatus is 3D printed. The lab has also publicly shared the files for the 3D-printed smartphone clip so that the device can be easily replicated. A common mistake that people make when buying iPhone microscopes is not paying attention to the provided software, which often leads to issues such as difficulty in installation, or incompatibility with certain devices and operating systems. Despite the software (app), don`t forget to put a layer of those thin plastic films used in your kitchen to wrap food. You don`t need to wrap around the entire phone, but only cover the front camera lens.

Of course, it doesn’t actually zoom in to that extent. It just has a smart detector that can identify what you are trying to image, and then loads up magnified images of that specimen from its database. Nonetheless, still pretty impressive. Where kids are interested in microscopes but just too young or impatient to handle the slides, the Junior Talking Microscope is an ideal alternative. The whole device feels a lot like a real microscope, but actually uses slides to teach them about the animal kingdom. I build a helmet holder at one time to assist in making videos holding the phone in front of my eyes as my eyes are -5. I could use both my hands this way. Here is a list of the best cellphone microscopes that are well acclaimed and popularly used for their exceptional performance or uniqueness: 1.
