About this deal

The main line movie figures attempt to emulate the complex, multi-faceted appearance of the screen characters, succeeding to a remarkable degree given the radical style shift. Robot modes integrate and hide their vehicle mode kibble very well, avoiding most of the parts-clearance problems seen in many " shellformer" style designs. Even non-film characters match the overall aesthetic. Most alternate forms are realistically styled contemporary Earth vehicles, many of which are licensed replicas. Much like his ROTF ancestor, he is a frequent victim of counterfeiting, ranging from clones that fix the issues above to high quality upscales. Ironically for much of 2008, as supply began to overtake demand, the movie toys became shelf-warmers, appearing not to sell in huge numbers, and often to the detriment of shelf-space for the newer Animated and Universe toylines. The first release in the Asian-exclusive Asia Premium Series toyline is an extensive redeco of the previously-Japanese exclusive Striker Optimus. He features a comprehensive paint scheme directly based on Jetpower Optimus Prime, with blue pinstriped flames, lots of silver paint, and vacuum metallized parts, although his hands are left unpainted in favor of painting his mirrors silver. Along with his standard accessories, he also comes with 2 battle blades, which were previously exclusive to Toys"R"Us Japan. He features the "We must stop the Decepticons!" voice chip, but batteries are not included. Rather helpfully, his instructions are supplemented with text instructions written in English for all the steps, as well as the additional photographs used for the previous Striker Optimus toy.

ICONIC MODES: This Studio Series Transformers toy for 8 year old boys and girls features classic conversion between robot and gorilla modes in 34 steps A 3D printable model of Optimus Primal in gorilla mode was made available for free by Paramount Pictures on Printables. Once printed, the figure features ten points of articulation on its arms and legs. Another major aspect of the line is its heavy focus on "core cast", making sure most of the film Autobots and Decepticons were available at multiple price points, especially the budget-minded Legends size class, which was once again available at all major retailers (instead of just at specialty and convenience stores). While the newly created bots in the film were left out, the concept was represented by the Real Gear Robots. Even major human characters got toys (rare for a Transformers toyline) in the "Screen Battles" diorama sets. Yes, the famous Mr. Potato Head. This was the start of an ongoing cross-branding of one of Hasbro's longest-running toys with Transformers. He also has a removable Matrix of Leadership in his chest which is made of unpainted gray plastic. In an awesome homage, the Movie matrix rests on a stand molded to look like its G1 incarnation.

He resembles previous Optimus characters in robot mode: his angular chest windows are reminiscent of Cybertron Optimus Prime, while his near-animalistic limbs and color scheme are evocative of Beast Wars Optimus Primal. He has excellent articulation due to his many ball joints, and is armed with a rifle. The flame attachment can fit onto the end of the (non-firing) gun barrel. It should be noted that this Optimus Prime can accommodate the Battle Blade accessories to recreate the scene of him fighting against Galvatron. Q: Could we also see more accurate versions of them and the TFP characters in Studio Series though? A: Entirely possible, they’re talking about expanding Studio Series beyond movies."— TFW2005 asking Hasbro about more accurate redos of Prime characters
