This R/C model assembly kit recreates the classic Ford Escort Mk.II in rally racing form. It was a RAC Rally Champion from 1975-1979. The pre-painted body sits on top the Tamiya MF-01X chassis that is capable both on asphalt and flat dirt surfaces.

Based around a tough monocoque frame with integrated gearboxes, this compact 4WD chassis gives a thrilling drive whether you take it on road or flat dirt surfaces.This is a special custom (street spec) version of the 1998 Ford Escort. The body depicts the Ford Escort as a customized street version of the WRC car, and is based upon the TT-02 chassis. The actual car was powered by an inline-4 2-liter engine offering 300PS and 50Kgm of torque. Rally cars are always an exciting subject, accomplished both on asphalt and flat dirt, and Tamiya is delighted to announce the addition of another to our R/C stable: the Ford Escort Mk.II Rally, depicting a car which was RAC Rally champion from 1975-1979. Fittingly, it is based upon the MF-01X chassis, which has dedicated rally parts and is at home on a range of surfaces. The Mk.II was produced from 1975 to 1980, a front-engine, rear-wheel drive car with a classic boxy body.

This chassis features highly capable 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension, with friction dampers front and rear. Plenty of separately molded parts up the realism - spotlights, headlight cases, bumper and side mirrors. Power from the rear mounted motor is transmitted by gear differential to the rear wheels, and via a propeller shaft to the front. The chassis can be converted to S and M wheelbases with separately sold propeller shafts. A slimline three-piece monocoque forms the centerpiece of the MF-01X chassis, and the propeller shaft is positioned to the right. Dish-type wheels (previously used on Item 58257, etc.) are moulded in white ABS plastic, and paired with treaded Street tyres.
