About this deal

The terran brothers were getting less and less and a sense of exclusion was beginning to feel pronounced. Whereas another one of his brothers holding the line with him becomes envious and thinks Saul is hogging all the glory. Another book between those first two, or between books two and three, to portray the gradual corruption of the Legion and the clandestine work of Erebus and the lodges would have helped. I remember initially thinking when introduced to the remembrancers that they would surely pale in comparison to the astartes and primarchs in interest, but I have been happily proven wrong. He is one of Black Library's most popular Warhammer 40,000 authors, and has also written RPG supplements and comic books.

I wouldn't recommend for those who hadn't already read the first two; it's definitely not standalone. After False Gods, Counter takes the Sons of Horus to Isstvann where they put their latest plan into action. An unprecedented alliance between the Sons of Horus, Death Guard, World Eaters and Emperor' Children Legions seems more than capable of overwhelming the paltry mortal defences - indeed, such a display of force seems unneccesary?

The Warhammer 40K books have surprised me with their efforts at characterisation, however they tend to waffle around without a driver.

Having recovered from his grievous injuries, Warmaster Horus leads the triumphant Imperial forces against the rebel world of Isstvan III where Horus's treachery is finally revealed .Leading the surviving loyalists he pulled out of the fight, Tarvitz takes advantage of Eidolon's undisciplined attack and manages to repel the assault. This is also the first time we meet Nathaniel Garro of the Death Guard who players a bigger role in other books. It looks like from this point on the story is going to spread in myriad directions only diehard nerds will care about. But all that is almost forgotten and somewhat forgiven when the talking finally stops and the action gets rolling.

His eyes met those of Horus Aximand and he saw a sorrow that matched his own echoed in his brother's eyes. There are two novels in the Horus Heresy so far that have had to deal with war on a scale like this, and they are in my point of view Galaxy in Flames and Dan Abnett’s Know No Fear. Lucius succeeds in killing the rebel governor Vardus Praal and the Emperor's Children capture the palace.
