The descent through the kitchen is straightforward at first, however the path then becomes less obvious as you navigate the boulder field. The route is quite steep in parts, requiring a little boulder hopping and some easy level scrambling (or perhaps a little bum shimmying!)

Listening to strathspeys helps with learning them because of their different rhythm, and tapping your foot to the melody instead of straight 4/4 helps in creating the heavy hold/cut stuff, though it can be confusing sometimes. ↳ Visiting Llyn Idwal is a must-do when you’re in Snowdonia. And hiking up Devil’s Kitchen to Llyn y Cwn is the cherry (a big cherry!) on the cake. If you only have one day to spend in Snowdonia, I recommend this hike. The views you are rewarded with across Cwm Idwal and the towering mountains are utterly stunning. And with a little bit of very easy scrambling added in, it makes for an amazing, adventurous day out for everyone!I’ve been listening to Brenda Stubbert’s playing of this tune, but needless to say, I always feel hopeless while trying to imitate such hard-core CB fiddle playing on the whistle.
