About this deal

Create objects from the diecut card sheets you'll find in the envelope, then use them to solve a series of video-game-inspired levels inside the book. I’m looking for whether I can get a real feel for the atmosphere, the characters, the tension, and so on. To even get an interview at this company, an individual already has to be willing to ditch all else, to risk losing everything that could slow their drive to the top, their drive to win over others. Participating in a work-sponsored, team-building exercise on a Friday night is the last thing colleagues, Vincent, Jules, Sylvie and Sam, want to do. I love the idea of escape rooms, a group of people working together to find clues that will enable them to solve a series of puzzles.

One challenge after another is thrown at the five, and when members begin to vanish, Ami wonders what her dad was thinking when he bought the Escape Room ticket. Lots of visual puzzles, codes to work out, pieces to put together - with hints and solutions at the back if you get stuck. There’s no getting away from this unputdownable thriller about teens being held captive in an escape room where the stakes are all too real. Once I figured out the who and the what behind the escape room, I turned off the critical side of my brain, suspended my disbelief, and enjoyed the crazy ride! There’s enthusiastic Adjoa - “Think Lara Croft meets Indiana Jones, but with a better sense of style. Megan Goldin certainly fooled me into thinking I was going to be up way past my bedtime chasing down the truth. Plus, the way the book is set out means there is no twist or reveal-- it is obvious pretty much immediately what is going on and who is responsible.

With the fine details of how stuffy and dark it is and the feeling of panic building within each person in the elevator as they realize, this just might not be a game. Highly entertaining, well crafted and suspenseful novel which I think readers who enjoyed the or will enjoy this one as well. The message, which quickly became obvious to me as Ami and her team moved through each room, was a really good one but it came across pretty heavy handed. I know that sounds like a bummer, but it worked really well for me and shows that the author can carry a breathtaking novel in a satisfying manner well beyond a few "mind blowing" plot twists. Kortom, Escape room van Christopher Edge is een tof boek vol met mysteries, opdrachten en puzzels voor jongeren vanaf ongeveer 10 jaar.
