About this deal

After the Defender's losingbattle against the Black Dragon, the United Kingdom finds itselfunder the control of "Lord Protector" Lock, the undead Vikinginvaders and the berserkers unleashed by the Raven Banner.

Although there is a little problem, As the Main Character, Alfie is inconsistent, going from one way to another with seemingly no reason. It`s about Alfie, heir to the throne, as he assumes his new role and discovers he must also become a superhero/vigilante figure known as the Defender, who deals with the mythical creatures that have caused all of the disasters in British history. Alfie is trying to save the Kingdom by night, rule it by day and keep his family together, all the while knowing if he fails, we could be thrown into another dark age. The writing is neat, there is some 'hard' part, and I kinda hate reading that part, but goes past that, it successfully able to kept me occupied reading it.

Alfie is pulled into a whole new world of secrets, underground passages, magical powers and monsters that wreak chaos from the Thames right through to Edinburgh Castle. Alfie tries desperately to learn the ropes but unaware that there is danger is on the horizon, an epic battle beyond anyone’s imagination awaits him. It weaves superheros and British history brilliantly making the history part fascinating while you enjoy the rip roaring superhero story. If you like the sound of Alfie's adventures, try another story about a teenage hero in Stormbreaker by Anthony Horowitz one of my favourite authors.

So impressed was I by the Defender that as soon as I had tested one, I said to Land Rover that I just had to get one. After the Defender’s losing battle against the Black Dragon, the United Kingdom finds itself under the cruel control of “Lord Protector” Lock, the undead Viking invaders and the monstrous berserkers unleashed by the Raven Banner. Fortunately, it was definitely worth the wait as it proves to be another thrilling and dramatic adventure guaranteed to enthral and entertain the reader.

I ended up getting really into it, and look forward to the club's selections bolstering my annual book count. You aren’t sitting at an odd angle where your elbow is always poking out of the window when you turn the steering wheel, and it is furnished with all the modern comforts. In fact, fear of failure stalks his every move, he doesn’t think he’s cut out to be king let alone a superhero and he doesn’t want to let anyone down. I couldn’t help but feel a little sorry for Alfie who would much rather be doing almost anything than trying to uphold his public image or defending us all from various murderous creatures. As we sat in our cold little office in East Dulwich, we looked at each other with expressions of outrage, hurt and disbelief.

And worse come down to crash as he suddenly becomes the King and found out that his job is not only come to boring parties ( in which he despise ) but also becoming the Defender. Sure, it might be aimed at a much younger generation than mine, but it didn’t stop me enjoying every minute. But when their father the King suddenly dies, ready or not, suitable or not, Alfie is no longer the heir, he is the king and with that defender of the realm. And for those of you who’ve read the first book, you’ll know that in Defender of the Realm: Dark Age, there’s going to be something else that will test Alfie’s resilience to the limit. Full of clever references to modern life and the pressures young royals might face when on parade in public. The first thing that comes to mind when I think about the original Land Rover Defender is British engineering and the new Defender is no different.
