CeraVeMoisturizing Creamis formulated with a number of skin-supporting ingredients, such as our three essential ceramides, hyaluronic acid, petrolatum, and dimethicone. To learn more about the skincare benefits of each of these ingredients, head to Ingredients in CeraVe. This moisturizing formula also contains MVE Delivery Technology, whichencapsulates ceramides and hydrating ingredients to ensure efficient delivery within the skin’s barrier and slow release over time (for long-lasting hydration). This rich, CeraVe Moisturising Cream is formulated with essential ceramides to protect and repair the skin's natural barrier, whilst providing all-day hydration. Developed with dermatologists, this face and body moisturising cream is suitable for dry to very dry, sensitive and eczema-prone skin. What Are Ceramides? This lotion may not however be suitable for you if you suffer from fungal acne. This is because it contains cetearylalcohol (also known as cetostearylalcohol). A study published in 2019 showed that fungal acne (malassezia) grew in the presence of the fatty alcohol, cetostearyl alcohol. Tattoos Ceramides make up 50% of the goopy stuff that's between our skin cells and play a super important role in having a healthy skin barrier and keeping the skin hydrated. It's one of the important lipids that can be found naturally in the outer layer of the skin. About 25% of the goopy stuff between our skin cells consists of cholesterol.

Although the CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion is recommended for dry skin, I feel that it could be used by all skin types. A famous natural moisturizing factor that can bind up to 1000 times its own weight in water. Works as an excellent surface hydrator in skincare. Overall I had a good experience with this product however I would recommend the CeraVe Moisturizing Cream over the lotion for the colder months since the cream is more moisturizing and protective. Pros Aqua/Water,Glycerin,Cetearyl Alcohol,Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride,Cetyl Alcohol,Ceteareth-20,Petrolatum,Dimethicone,Phenoxyethanol,Behentrimonium Methosulfate,Potassium Phosphate,Ethylhexylglycerin,Sodium Lauroyl Lactylate,Disodium EDTA,Dipotassium Phosphate,Ceramide NP,Ceramide AP,Phytosphingosine,Cholesterol,Xanthan Gum,Carbomer,Sodium Hyaluronate,Tocopherol,Ceramide EOP The CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion can be used as either a facial moisturizer or a body moisturizer. The bottle states to apply the product liberally as needed.

MOISTURE RETAINING INGREDIENTS: Formulated with hyaluronic acid to help retain skin's natural moisture An extremely common multitasker ingredient that gives your skin a nice soft feel (emollient) and gives body to creams and lotions. It also helps to stabilize oil-water mixes (emulsions), though it does not function as an emulsifier in itself. Its typical use level in most cream type formulas is 2-3%. CeraVe Moisturizing Cream can be applied as a face cream or body cream to help restore the appearance of hydrated, healthy-looking skin. This makes it a convenient skincare option for anyone who prefers formulas that can be used on multiple areas. I compared the ingredient lists between the two, and noticed that there were slight differences, with the UK version containing additional skin conditioning agents. The ingredients were, however, mostly the same.

Applying skincare products that contain ceramides has been proven to help reduce eczema, and protect the skin barrier, reducing dryness, fine lines, wrinkles and dullness. One study from 2008 showed that using skincare products containing ceramides had a significant effect in clearing mild to moderate eczema. The CeraVe Moisturizing Lotion is a non greasy lotion designed to retain moisture in the skin throughout the day, and keep the skin barrier healthy and strong. The key ingredients in the product are ceramides (Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP and Ceramide EOP), hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate), and glycerin. Benefits of Ceramides in Skin Care The most common type offeared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reason parabens. It's a cheap, effective and well-tolerated ingredient to make sure the cosmetic formula does not go wrong too soon. It’s not something new: it was introduced around 1950 and today it can be used up to 1% worldwide. It can be found in nature - in green tea - but the version used in cosmetics is synthetic. MVE Technology: This patented delivery system continually releases moisturizing ingredients for 24-hour hydrationAnother thing I liked about this product was that it comes with a pump dispenser. This is more hygienic than dipping your fingers into a tub as it helps to keep germs and bacteria out. A patented delivery technology - Multi-Vesicular Emulsion (MVE) - to slowly release hydration throughout the day, for instant & long-lasting hydration

CeraVe's MVE delivery technology: A revolutionary system which allows their skincare products to work more effectively. This 'Timed-Release' formula provides multiple phases of moisturisation to keep our skin hydrated for up to 24 hours. Apart from the general controversy around parabens (we wrote about it more here), there is a 2006 in-vitro (made in the lab not on real people) research about methylparaben (MP) sho It's a type of lipid, a so-calledsphingoid base that can be found naturally in the upper layer of the skin. It's found both in "free-form" and as part of famous skin lipids, ceramides. As for petrolatum and safety, we can write here pretty much the exact same thing as we have written at mineral oil. There is no evidence whatsoever that cosmetic, USP grade petrolatum is carcinogenic. It also does not absorb into the skinbut sits on top of it and that in itself greatly minimises health risks. It also has a long history of safe use, as it was first used as a skincare product more than 100 years ago, in 1872to be precise. A 2007 study showed thatPhytosphingosine even works againstevil acne-causing bacteria,Propionibacterium acnes and shows promise as a complementing active ingredient in treating acne-prone skin thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activities.High-molecular-weight-HA (>500 kDa) is an excellent surface hydrator, skin protectant and can act as an osmotic pump helping water-soluble actives to penetrate deeper into the skin MVE Technology: This delivery system continually releases moisturizing ingredients for 48-hour hydration—supporting your protective skin barrier, long after you’ve finished applying.

All CeraVe products, including their Moisturizing Lotion, contain three ceramides: Ceramide NP, Ceramide AP and Ceramide EOP. In fact, it’s the ceramides in CeraVe’s formulas that are the reason for the “Cera” in the brand’s name! Benefits of Hyaluronic Acid in Skin Care It’s pretty much the current IT- preservative. It’s safe and gentle, but even more importantly, it’s not a feared-by-everyone-mostly-without-scientific-reason paraben. So far we were writing about ceramides in plural. It's because there are lots of different ceramides, a 2014article writes that currently 12 base classes of ceramides are known with over 340 specific species.Chemically speaking, ceramides are the connection of a fatty acid and a sphingoid base and both parts can have different variations that result in the different types of ceramides. Effective from as low as 3% with even more benefits for dry skin at higher concentrations up to 20-40% A compromised skin barrier can lead toskin that looks dry, scaly, rough, or flaky.
