About this deal

A decent frying pan should have a flat base and a hard-wearing surface, and beware of very cheap options, which will have a thin surface that will quickly wear away and need replacing.

Crafted from our iconic cast iron, it distributes heat evenly and seals the outside of your food quickly. We especially love the fact the base is solid stainless steel too, so won’t warp with use, particularly on the high heat delivered by an induction hob. The box suggests grilling sausages and bacon in the ridged griddle centre and using the smaller compartments for your accompaniments. The specs say it's dishwasher-safe and you can use metal utensils, which would set it apart from other non-stick pans – though we're not sure we'd risk it. Still, 15 minutes after I started, everything looks just about ready — and I ladle my full English out of the pan and onto a plate.

There are larger versions of the pan, which, of course, are heavier, yet still lighter than the Solidteknics. These things get pretty darn hot, so make sure to use both oven gloves and pot stands while you’re levelling up your culinary skills. We also considered how heavy the pan was, how much oil we needed to use when cooking with it and how easy it was to clean afterwards, to determine which one was truly the perfect pan.

We recommend washing by hand in warm, soapy water rather than cleaning in the dishwasher as this will help the non-stick surface last longer. Our first omelette was seriously overcooked, but on a lower heat, we were pleased with the results of a perfectly cooked, soft omelette with even colouring. We used the pans to make American pancakes and omelettes, as well as shimmying dry ingredients to test the shape. For a more authentic "fry-up" before emptying the bacon and sausage drippings, fry the bread in them.

I go for sausage and bacon in the middle, mushrooms, beans, a slice of toast (though you couldn’t fit any more than one in, so the use of a toaster is best) and a fried egg which has a circular well section. The pan scorches the edge of the meat, leaving a lovely caramelised char, while the non-sticky surface means your steak cleanly leaves the pan at the end of the cooking.

It’s also heavier than the average non-stick pan, so anyone who struggles with mobility may find it too hefty, but the smooth metal handle is a delight to use otherwise. EXCLUSIVETaylor Swift's Super Bowl challenge: Can she get from Tokyo to Vegas in time to watch Travis Kelce play IF Chiefs beat Ravens? The brand’s zerostick coating is precision engineered at 17,000C to fuse plasma ceramic particles to the surface of the pan, creating a textured cooking surface that is scratch-resistant, lead- and cadmium-free and dishwasher-safe.

This is especially important on induction hobs: if you use the wrong-sized ring, there’s a risk the hob won't ‘recognise’ the product. Avoid using scouring pads, as they can scratch and remove the non-stick coating, rendering the pan useless. This frying pan has a brilliant non-stick surface; neither our American pancakes or omelette stuck to the pan.Great complements: reach new levels of flavour by complementing your favourite pan with glass lids that we have available separately. The non-stick does its job and the pan is super easy to clean, requiring only a wipe down – even for my dried on beans. If you like to cook dishes that need to be finished in the oven, choose one that’s oven-safe to a high temperature.
