To compose your images, you’ve got the choice of a 0.39-inch, 2360k-dot electronic viewfinder (which is smaller and lower in resolution than the one on the Z6/Z7), or a 3.2-inch tilting TFT LCD, which is touch-sensitive. Unlike the Z6/Z7, you have the benefit of tilting this to face forward from the bottom hinge, making it useful for selfies – but less so for attaching the camera to a tripod. Another issue with the Z50 has to do with its LCD tilt-down screen. Nikon wanted the Z50 to be marketed as a camera for vloggers, so it designed the LCD screen so that it can be tilted down, as shown below:

I haven't seen any dummy battery of this model anywhere online, and I'm wondering if there's any other method to keep the Z50 camera running indefinitely (or at least 2 or 3h) without shutting down or overheating. The megapixel count being the big difference between my Z50 and the D850 I used isn't always all that relevant. I did a job last year to photograph a museum's collection of motorcycles and I would certainly rent a higher megapixel camera if I were to do that job now, but for a vast majority of things I shoot 20.9 MP is plenty. These days when most things are being viewed on a tiny phone screen, I feel like megapixel count is even less relevant. A 300-shot battery life is promised from the new EN-EL25 battery for the Z50. While this isn’t the most generous rating on the market, that 300 figure is a conservative estimate, and in practice you should find that at the very least it lasts for a full day of average shooting. If you’re someone who likes to capture a lot of 4K video, though, it might be worth buying an extra battery. Sensitivity down to -4EV is promised for low-light shooting, and there’s also Eye-Detection AF, which should come in handy when photographing people; unlike Sony’s similarly specced models, there’s no Animal Eye AF, though. I'm looking to get a Nikon Z50 and would like to use it for livestreams + Camlink 4k + OBS (like you can do with the Z6).

When it comes to ergonomics, Nikon shooters will feel right at home with the Z50. First of all, the grip of the camera is deep and very comfortable, especially when comparing it to other cameras like Sony A6400, Fuji X-T30 and Canon EOS M6 II. And despite the big size of the Z-mount, Nikon left plenty of room between the mount and the grip to make the camera comfortable even for those with larger hands. Similar to other Nikon DSLRs, the grip is covered with textured rubber, providing great comfort when using the camera for extended periods of time. The grip is also nicely pronounced, making it comfortable to use for long periods of time. Some of the missing buttons’ functions have been replaced with ‘virtual’ touchscreen options, such as the magnify option and the display button.
